I too have never been abducted by aliens. This video really speaks to those of us who have not yet been abducted by aliens. Don't let it get to you. We are not alone.
Gloucestershire Cheese Rolling 2008 video from http://www.soglos.com.
Death-defying clips from the 2008 Cooper's Hill Cheese Rolling and
Wake, where every year fearless competitors from around the world
tumble down an almost vertical hill in Gloucester, UK, chasing an 8lb
Double Gloucester Cheese. It can never really be caught as it reaches
breakneck speeds but the first person to cross the line at the bottom
of the hill wins the coveted cheese. Thousands of spectators turned up
to watch again this year, and there were also a few of the usual
injuries. Thankfully St John's Ambulances were on hand to whisk the
casualties away to the local hospital. See http://www.soglos.com to find out more.
You just can't make this sort of stuff up. I for one, can understand why someone would want to chase cheese but 8lbs of Gloucester cheese? Why not. [ Gloucestershire Cheese Rolling ]
A "sequel" presentation made for a Media Theory class at SCAD. Inspired by the style of Zero Punctuation reviews.Made to be presented in a classroom.Special thanks to Brenda Brathwaite, James Portnow and Leigh Alexander for their writings on the subject.
Fantastic critique on the rising controversy of video games and sexual content. A must watch for any gamer.
This makes up for that whole NOT having flying cars in the year 2008 thing I've been upset about since we hit year 2000. The Yamaha Deus Ex Machina is an "electric, single
passenger, vertically parking, wearable motorcycle". Yeah... a wearable motorcycle. 0 to 60 in 3 seconds? Sweet Merciful crap. WANT.
FRED ASTAIRE in SMOOTH CRIMINAL Starring Fred Astaire, Cyd Charisse, Leslie Caron Choreographed by Michael Kidd 'Smooth Criminal' by Michael Jackson Video edited by CFJ
I
love both Astaire and Michael Jackson. I want young people to know
Astaire stuff, that is why I made this. The video features scenes from
the Girl Hunt ballet in The Band Wagon (1953) starring Astaire and Cyd
Charisse (those supreme legs!! The most perfect body a woman could
have. So sensual, so elegant), to which MJ gave homage in his Smooth
Criminal vid (also in a performance of Get Happy on the Jacksons show
in the 70s as well as You Rock My World in 2001), and, as an intro, a
sequence from Daddy Long Legs (1955) featuring Leslie Caron (in motion
pictures, you mustn't put a coin into a jukebox in an ordinary way!).
One of these things is not like the other. One of these things just doesn't belong but that doesn't stop it from being a great video mashup. For starters, Astaire was dreamy. Michael was always pretty creepy and it just got worse with time where as Astaire just got more fabulous.
If you thought that superheroes were immune to the failings of mortal
men, then you sir are sadly mistaken. Thankfully, there is a special
task force led by Chris Hansen to stop these Super Predators in their
tracks!
Oh Batman, you are in trooooouubbbbble. Chris Hanson is just not going to let you walk away from this one. [ To Catch a Super Predator ]
As Blog Editor here at the Times I am constantly approached with new ideas. Usually I tell people they either aren't being creative enough in their pitch or they haven't researched the blogosphere enough to see that there are dozens of blogs out there that perfectly do what they're proposing.
I wait for the day that someone comes to me to say they want to start a blog which documents people's love of misappropriating quotes so I can say, "oh you really should check out The 'Blog' of 'Unnecessary' Quotation Marks".
Today TBoUQM featured the above photo spotted at a McDonald's titled "use your 'outside' voice" and the image below that they titled "good nickname"
The blog has been exposing offenders since 2005 and now has over 1000 posts so feel free to dig deep into their archives for more "funny".
- Stealing is funner than we expected or remembered
- Killing is easier and more detailed on the PS3 than ever dreamed of
- Crime may not pay, but making ultra-violent video games can gross you a half billion in your first week
And now this compilation of stunts have taught us that pretty much anything in slow-motion, especially crazy stunts in a virtual world can be beautiful.
Maybe this is some sort of payback from stealing reality television from Japan - it's Japanese people impersonating many of the pop idols of the '80s who appeared in the Michael Jackson / Quincy Jones classic "We Are The World".
Sadly the Springsteen guy looks way more like Smokey Robinson.
Christie St. Martin was born in Bermuda and educated at two Canadian universities that would prefer not to be mentioned here until she supplies them with healthy building endowments. An uber-geek and proud of it, she established herself as an Internet presence with All Things Christie, a blog that managed, with its quirky and unabashedly self-indulgent links to and commentary on whatever struck her fancy or her ire, to attract small legions of readers, fans and would-be stalkers. Her interests were as they are: myriad and eclectic, though certainly given to a particular fondness for the tech-y, the game-y and the kitschy. She is her own organizing principle, a kind of mad surfer on the crests of cultural lunacy, alternately acerbic, ecstatic and unintentionally insightful. She has since blogged for VH1's "Best Week Ever" and Exhausticated.com, providing her usual melange of cheek, snark and occasional observation. Christie also contributes to LAT's Hero Complex blog.
