Fred Astaire and Michael Jackson mashup to Smooth Criminal

I love both Astaire and Michael Jackson. I want young people to know Astaire stuff, that is why I made this. The video features scenes from the Girl Hunt ballet in The Band Wagon (1953) starring Astaire and Cyd Charisse (those supreme legs!! The most perfect body a woman could have. So sensual, so elegant), to which MJ gave homage in his Smooth Criminal vid (also in a performance of Get Happy on the Jacksons show in the 70s as well as You Rock My World in 2001), and, as an intro, a sequence from Daddy Long Legs (1955) featuring Leslie Caron (in motion pictures, you mustn't put a coin into a jukebox in an ordinary way!).

One of these things is not like the other. One of these things just doesn't belong but that doesn't stop it from being a great video mashup. For starters, Astaire was dreamy. Michael was always pretty creepy and it just got worse with time where as Astaire just got more fabulous.

Del.icio.us!

That was GREAT!! I'm a guy (ostensibly) so I don't watch a lot of anything that has dancing, so this was a neat little treat. Jackson creepiness aside, that's a great song. Cyd Charisse was totally hot, but did anyone else notice she was likely the inspiration for Jessica Rabbit? What with the femme fatal thing and the outfit being a dead ringer, I'm sure this was obvious to everyone else but me.

Sorry, but if it's not the Alient Ant Farm version, I'm just not interested.

I swear I watched this at least 15 time since you showed to to me.

An uber-geek and proud of it, she established herself as an Internet presence with All Things Christie, a blog that managed, with its quirky and unabashedly self-indulgent links to and commentary on whatever struck her fancy or her ire, to attract small legions of readers, fans and would-be stalkers. Her interests were as they are: myriad and eclectic, though certainly given to a particular fondness for the tech-y, the game-y and the kitschy. She is her own organizing principle, a kind of mad surfer on the crests of cultural lunacy, alternately acerbic, ecstatic and unintentionally insightful. She has since blogged for VH1's "Best Week Ever" and Exhausticated.com, providing her usual melange of cheek, snark and occasional observation. Christie also contributes to LAT's Hero Complex blog.
