A few years ago, a then-girlfriend gifted me this genuine Masonic handbook, printed in 1920, as a Christmas present. (I wish everyone had such a good understanding of my tastes.) The entirety of the manual is written in nigh-impenetrable code and shorthand, save passages like that in the middle of the left-hand page, quoting from Genesis.
Today on clusterflock I found this little treasure of national secrecy. In this flickr set you will find pictures from an enciphered Masonic
handbook from 1920. chronicling their rituals and
speeches. Due to this handbook being printed prior to 1923, the text is open to the public as per current US copyright laws. Here's hoping he puts up the entire handbook for our viewing pleasure in the near future. I love that it's written in shorthand and that I am capable of following most of it due to my grandfather haven given me books on how to read and write shorthand many years ago. Truly fascinating. As the 25th anniversary of RETURN OF THE JEDI approaches, this man reminds us not to forget about the heroic Ewoks. To be honest, I find this video rather terrifying. Yet I watched it 3 times in a row.
Awwww. Workout guide on the youtubes worth watching is hard to find. Will "Stud Muffin" Jones' videos might be something I tune back into. I just want to give him a hug. You know, when he puts his pants back on..
What better mentor for a 10-year-old than Charles Manson? Little Billy seeks life advice, and America's most notorious killers are happy to oblige.
In the late '90s, pop-culture historian Bill
Geerhart had a little too much time on his hands and a surfeit of
stamps. So, for his own entertainment, the then-unemployed
thirtysomething launched a letter-writing campaign to some of the most
powerful and infamous figures in the country, posing as a curious
10-year-old named Billy.
Hey guys, umm certifiably insane Charles Manson would like to know where his PAPER is?
Also..seriously, Richard Ramirez has personalized stationary? Hope our tax dollars didn't pay for that.
I think it's time I sent Charles Manson a little letter. Maybe it will go something like this.
Dear Charles Manson,
Today the elephants finally turned on me, with the peardrops in
conspiracy. Watch out for the Hillbillies with lazers, they are the
killer, peardrops, PEARDROPS.Peace.
Anyway, make sure to read some of the comments people left on this Radar post.Specifically the post from bobolikesbeer. [ The Billy Letters ]
Johan Lorbeer is a German street performer. He became famous in the
past few years because of his “Still-Life” Performances, which took
place in the public area. His installations includes “Proletarian
Mural” and “Tarzan”, which are famous in Germany. Several of these
performances feature Lorbeer in an apparently impossible position.
Maybe you have seen a few stories about Johan Lorbeer's still-life performances around the internet from time to time. But I imagine this site is the only place you will find a collection of fantastic photos of his work all over Europe. I think if I saw a man, stuck to the wall, I would bring him a beer and a book. What would you bring him? [ Still-Life Tarzan ]
I got a bunch more photos out of him, and he’s right … these are way, way more fun, especially this Iron Man remix:
If only all poster advertisements around cities everywhere would be so awesomely mashed up on a daily basis. I would probably ride public transit more if I had something funny to look at. Also, Ironman opens tomorrow and you can color me excited, I just hope Tony Stark actually has a pink purse in every scene. [ Subway Ad Mashups ]
Get it straight: Hops only started being used in
brewing about 1,000 to 1,200 years ago. Up until then, for at least
five millennia, beer was flavoured with a wide variety of spices, herbs
and, yes, fruits. In fact, archeological research has shown that King
Tut drank fruit beer, and he was one dude you could hardly consider
“girly.”
Yeah you heard the man. King Tut was no lady. Get your facts straight. Fruit beers are for Kings and girls of legal drinking age. [ 15 most popular beer myths ]
Hi, I'm Tim Nolan and I have never, nor will I ever, touch a woman. This guy is living proof that even though the definition of insanity is
repeating a task over and over again expecting and a different result,
that same neurotic devotion can pay off. Excuse me while I go wash my
hands fifteen times.

Starcade! G4tv used to even show reruns of Starcade back when they first started. If only I could have been on this show. Seriously, those kids sucked
at Time Pilot. At that time video games were getting so big that TV executives were scrambling to
get anything video game related on TV. Hey we know! A game show!
Everyone loves game shows! I highly recommend watching episodes #59, #127 and #62. It's hard not loving it when a 14 year old says his favourite activities are tennis and the stock market. COME ON.... Gold. [Starcade Series ]

As you may or may not know, ROFLcon is one of those ideas that is either going to be a fantastic
one of a kind convention or a complete and total mess; either way it does promise to
be memorable. The premise is pretty simple; assemble a famous

Every so often you find a story that is so sweet and ridiculously precious that you just feel the need to share it with everyone. This story is a website full of such sweet love that it's guaranteed to make you feel like you don't appreciate your own life
as much as you should. The sort of sweet optimism that is displayed here has quickly become a new daily read for me in hopes it will make me a less cynical person and appreciate how important it is to love your friends, family and partner on a daily basis and never to let them forget it. SAPPY RIGHT? I know. It did that to me and it's great.

First non-official video clip made for Zombie Zombie, the electrifying French duo of Etienne Jaumet and Cosmic Neman. Directed by Simon Gesrel and Xavier Ehretsmann thanks to their favourite toys... the GI Joes ! The video is an hommage to the director AND soundtrack composer John Carpenter, especially one of his masterpieces : THE THING.
There are a lot of things that make me happy in life. Combining GI Joe and John Carpenter's "The Thing" is one of those things. Awesome on so many levels I don't even know where to start. I really doubt I can top this video today but I'll try.
You may want to sit down for this news. Snopes, the self-appointed buzz kill of the web has revealed that the most spectacular assemblage of trailer homes presented as The Redneck Mansion was indeed fake (as in not actually a mullet habitat). Turned out it was just a set for an outdoor play at a theater called the Openluchttheater in Amsterdam.
What happens when you get a bunch of Russians together online and pose the simple request along the lines of "can you visually compare LSD with alcohol and its relationship to trees"? Apparently that was the challenge on the table at Leprosorium.ru recently. Wallout.com explains the site:
Leprosorium.ru is truly a gem of Russian Internet. It’s a place
where talented people meet, famous and not yet famous. It’s a unique
community where users actually select their moderators through weekly
elections, which mimic quite closely a real thing. They also have a
voting system for posts, which is even more democratic then Digg. At
least you can see who is burying your submitions. Membership in
leprosorium.ru is by invitation only.

Almost two years ago the odd phenomenon of dropping Mentos into two-liter bottles of Diet Coke took the world by storm. Driveways and backyards across the country were filled with giddy teens dropping candy into soda and watching the lo-calorie sugar-water soar into the sky.
Europe seems to really love these group erruptions. Last year in Holland over 800 geysers were let loose and recently within Ladeuzeplein square in Leuven, Belgium 1,500 students brought Mentos, Diet Coke, rain ponchos, and almost doubled the previous recrod. But was there a catchy soundtrack to go along with it?
Until there is we will continue to give love to the original EepyBird.com video above, but if you want to see photos from the Belgian world record click here.

Hollywood is a land of money and cowardice. Every big film is basically a $150 million gamble, so they tend to play it safe and stick to a successful formula.Nowhere is this more evident than in the genre of big-budget superhero franchises.
One might say there is an exact formula to comic book films. A set of rules and guidelines to ensure we will eat everything they toss at us up with little to no complaints. Henry A Lee has narrowed it down to 8 pointless laws that all comic book movies follow shamelessly. [8 pointless laws of comic book films ]

The video is a condensed time lapse of screenshots over a several month

The cog factory has cut back on it's workforce leaving only you in charge of sorting all the cogs used to make their 'machine'.
Your objective is to group the same colored cogs together in sprocket spirals. Once three or more cogs of the same color are adjacent to one another, they will connect themselves to the 'machine' in the background.
The number of sprocket spirals increases as you progress through the game and the 'machine' gets built.
Think carefully about which cog you send down which spiral - plan ahead. You only have a limited time before the cogs get ejected from the cogregator - so think quick!
Look out for power-ups they'll help you when you need them most.
Cog Factory is a fun logic game and your objective is to sort the different colored cogs into receptacles, keeping the same colors together. If you get three in a row, they disappear. Use the left and right keys to rotate the discharger and the space key to discharge. [ Cog Factory ]
American Idol always has its horrible singers that are good for a laugh or two, but because the show has spread its wing around the globe we can now start laughing at foreign singers whose dreams are being crushed. Valentina Hasan is a nice Bulgarian woman who really loves Mariah Carey and found herself auditioning for Music Idol. Only problem: Hasan doesn't really understand English. Of course that's where the hilarity begins (since the song is really called "Without You"). Hasan was laughed off the audition stage but after the show aired all of Bulgaria knew her name.
Just like with William Hung on American Idol, Music Idol figured out a way to milk the national joke and invited her back to mess up belt out "Ken Lee" in front of a live audience later in the season. Sadly she had learned English a tad better and that performance can be seen after the jump.

An online poll conducted in the '90s set Vitaly Komar, Alex Melamid and
David Soldier on a quest to create the most annoying song ever. After
gathering data about people's least favorite music and lyrical
subjects, they did the unthinkable: they combined them into a single
monstrosity, specifically engineered to sound unpleasant to the maximum
percentage of listeners. The song is not new, but it recently
resurfaced on Dial "M" for Musicology.
