David Cook already setting sales records
"American Idol" winner David Cook is off to a fast start.
After he scored 14 songs on the digital tracks chart today, Cook will debut with 11 songs on the U.S. singles chart, according to Billboard.biz. That's the largest number of debuts on Billboard's Hot 100 since one Miss Miley Cyrus placed six cuts on the tally in November 2006.
Cook's 11 debuts are the most by any artist since Nielsen SoundScan began charting sales in 1991. Before the Nielsen SoundScan era, the Beatles once placed 14 songs on the chart in 1964.
Cook's charge is led by his schmaltzy "The Time of My Life," which enters at No. 3. Cook probably would have been charting all "Idol" season long, but Apple withheld the reporting of the sales of all the contestants until the conclusion of the season. Cook's record, however, was based entirely on sales during the week ending May 25.
Runner-up David Archuleta landed three songs on both charts, led by his John Lennon cover "Imagine" at No. 36 on Billboard's Hot 100.

wow! congratulations Mr. Cook!
also, i saw TMZ last night and they showed David Cook being swarmed by fans asking for his autograph while Archuleta was walking behind him as if just one of the bodyguards because only one person asked for his authograph. :(

Go David Cook! What about going to Iraq to perform for the troops? Maybe take some of the other contestants with you? We don't have a Bob Hope anymore.

David Cook deserved whatever is happening to im right now...I really never watch American idol until I have witnessed his "Always be my baby" performance...It was awesome! Love you David Cook...

I really wish they had kept selling the songs from earlier in the show longer.
I wish, beyond wishing that they would release his whole season as a CD.

I am actually happy to see an idol who deserves it. He ranks up there with Daughtry who should had won then. We didn't vote then but learned our lesson.... Who won that year???? Dull Patrol, not soul patrol.. Rock on David Cook. We totally support you here brotha !!!!!!
