Janet Jackson goes sci-fi
Janet Jackson's latest video hit the Web this evening. After listening to it a few times, I couldn't help but be reminded of the latest Britney Spears album, "Blackout."
The production is top-notch, and certainly more glossed-over than the planetary effects Jackson is dancing around in the clip. But creating a tech-savvy groove is the objective here, and Jackson's vocals seem heavily affected.
It'll sound great in a club, but one gets the feeling this song could belong to any number of other pop singers. And the opening refrain of "Light skin, dark skin, my Asian persuasion" seems more forced than sexy.
But take a look and vote: Does this song make you excited or worried for her new album, which is due at the end of February?
WOW this video is fantastic Janet is the best LA TIME you really have no cclue about music after so many bad video and brits bad give me more video. This video bring a new view to what music video use to be and still have the ablity to be. Janet you rocked it out and it great to see your out of the box thinking again..

Janet and Britney in the same sentence? Yeah right...You lost major credibility with that one. The video is HOT and now maybe the media will loosen the noose they have had around her neck sense the Superbowl mishap. BREATHE!

I think the track is great. The video is wonderful. I love the fact that she did some thing artsy and not just another dance video. If you really stop and think about the video, it is a metaphor for the way she has been treated recently... and she does fight and perseveres.

I LOVE janet, but I think this is THEE worst video I have ever seen. And the excitement, for some fans, having new music by Janet blinds them to the reality of it all. I hope this album does well I'm cheering for her, but I must call it what it is.
The public outside of the Janet circle will be the judge, but I doubt this single will go any where past the initial shock.

The Janet/Britney comparisons and getting stale now. Its like one person has mentioned Britney and everyone wants jump on it. JANET IS THE ORIGINATOR REMEMBER THAT. The song and video are FIRE and i cant wait for the album!!

Love, Love, Love, this video. Janet is truly on something new. The video matched the next level energy of the song; AND Please stop mentioning Britney Spears and Janet in the same sentence. Trust me, Brit could never be the originatior!

I think Janet did a great job in this video. It's very different than what's goin on now video and music wise which is what has made ppl love Janet so much throughout the years she's been doing her own thing but BRITNEY nah no disrespect but u all need to get a check up with the doc on that one forreal lol. If anything Brit has styled herself after Janet so Janet just basically recopied herself if that was the case LOL!

The video is cool, but as the vocals reflect Janet is definitely an entertainer and not an artist.
I sat in the 3rd row in Columbus, Ohio and watched her lip-synch everything at her Velvet Rope concert except "Hi, Columbus, Ohio!"

The song sucks get real guys! All she says is the same thing over and over again, what is going on with people these days when crap like this gets praised? The video sucks too Janet used to record some pretty good songs even though lets face it she has no voice either its true she lips every live performance which only proves her lack of vocal ability, even Britneys new stuff is better than this! And as far as Janet being the ORIGINATOR? Get real , like it or not Madonna had that title from the get go, all these girls including Janet follow behind Madonna who has always lead the way.

Of course, some Madonna fans are feeling threatened and it's pretty obvious. Both Janet and Madonna can exist. I won't bother insulting you. It's too easy. I hope you feel better when Madonna's singel is released.
