WGA will not picket Grammys
The Writers Guild of America, West, has decided not to picket the Feb. 10 Grammy Awards, which will air live on CBS from Los Angeles. A WGAW spokesman says no decision has been made on an interim agreement, which would allow WGA writers to participate in the event.
As it stands, the decision not to picket is a large one, and likely will ease the minds of plenty of musicians who were debating whether or not to attend the ceremony. Thus far, only the Foo Fighters and Beyonce have been announced to perform, and many artists were likely waiting to commit until hearing a WGA decision on the picketing issue.
Even if an interim agreement is not granted -- the Grammys employ two WGA members to write its script -- the awards should now be able to happen largely as planned.
"We are pleased with the decision made by the WGA today," said Recording Academy president Neil Portnow in a statement. "In light of this, we are gratified that the 50th Annual Grammy Awards will focus solely on the great music, artists and charitable work resulting from our show. We look forward to unveiling the exciting lineup of artists who will give our worldwide audience one of the most memorable Grammy shows ever."

Fabolous.
