Grammys 2008: Kanye West thoughts

Kanye West rightfully led all Grammy nominations with eight for his fine album, "Graduation."

My editor and I were on the scene in Hollywood, providing some quick thoughts.

West tends to get tons o' nominations, but his wins always seem confined to the genre categories.

All that, and you forgot the two biggest reasons Kanye will win: (a) his mom and (b) the other off-the-wall AOTY noms. The quality-control committee might have liked Foo Fighters, Vince Gill & Herbie Hancock better than Springsteen, McCartney, et al.; but with no committee to clean up the actual vote, only Amy Winehouse is a real competitor for AOTY. Kanye's drama will help him; Amy's won't.
