Universal Pictures isn’t the only one crowing about the box-office success of ‘Fast Five,’ which has racked up more than $300 million in worldwide ticket sales since its release last month.

Film officials in Puerto Rico, where most of ‘Fast Five’ was shot, are using the movie’s success to promote more filming there.

The latest installment in the action franchise, which stars Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and Dwayne Johnson, spent 13 weeks shooting in Puerto Rico between July and October of last year. The crew filmed on the streets of Rio Piedras (a town in San Juan), the Old State Penitentiary Building, the Teodoro Moscoso Bridge in San Juan and the town of Naranjito, among other locations.

In all, ‘Fast Five’ employed 236 technicians, 13,145 extras and generated 16,824 room nights at hotels, contributing $27 million to the local economy, officials said.

‘Fast Five’ received nearly $11 million in film tax credits from Puerto Rico, which recently sweetened its film incentives to lure more productions.

‘The film and its effect on the local economy provided us with another opportunity to demonstrate that Puerto Rico has what it takes to handle a Hollywood blockbuster production,’’ said Economic Development and Commerce Secretary Jose Ramon.
