Spanish-language media giant Univision Communications Inc. on Wednesday named veteran Los Angeles broadcaster Jose Valle as head of Univision Radio.

Valle had been serving as vice president and general manager of Univision Radio Los Angeles, overseeing the company’s L.A. radio station group, which consists of KLVE-FM, KSCA-FM, KTNQ-AM and KRCD/KRCV-FM. Before joining Univision, Valle worked as general manager of Telemundo’s flagship TV station in Los Angeles, KVEA-TV Channel 52, owned by NBC Universal, and also oversaw operations of independent KWHY-TV Channel 22.

Univision Radio owns or operates 70 radio stations. The radio president post had been vacant for several months after longtime division head Gary Stone retired from the company at the end of 2010.
