Miramax names Eric Doctorow top home video executive

Newly launched independent Miramax Films has hired its top home video executive.

Eric Doctorow, a veteran of Paramount Pictures and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, has been named executive vice president in charge of home entertainment, Miramax announced Monday. He will report to chief executive Mike Lang.

Doctorow’s primary responsibility will be managing Miramax’s relationships with distributors of DVDs from its 550 title-plus library, including Lionsgate, StudioCanal and Echo Bridge. He previously had a similar job overseeing the distribution of MGM’s library offerings by 20th Century Fox.

Prior to that he worked for 20 years at Paramount, most recently as president of its worldwide home entertainment division.

In his new job, Doctorow will also work on digital distribution arrangements along with Lang, whose background is in online entertainment.
