Keith Olbermann abruptly departs MSNBC

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

MSNBC announced Friday night that its marquee "Countdown" anchor and talk show host Keith Olbermann was out.  The network did not provide a reason for his abrupt departure.

"MSNBC and Keith Olbermann have ended their contract. The last broadcast of "Countdown with Keith Olbermann" will be this evening. MSNBC thanks Keith for his integral role in MSNBC's success and we wish him well in his future endeavors," NBC Universal said in a statement.

Olbermann and his bosses have clashed in recent months. He was suspended in November for two days after revelations that he gave donations to a Democratic political candidate, which was a violation of the company's ethics policies for news employees.

I am thinking of canceling our cable.. Cable news has gotten so that there are No two sides to a story only the one that fills their pockets and bows to power..
Where are we when we can not have freedom of speech?

Republicans who do terrible things keep their job, Democrats who do less terrible things lose their job. What happened did GE put pressure on you to release Keith? What a mistake; I will watch him wherever he goes. Barbara

REPUBLICANS, THEY’VE DONE MORE DAMAGE TO AMERICA THAN ANY TERRORIST GROUP COULD HAVE HOPED TO ACCOMPLISH, & SEEMS FREE SPEECH IS DEATH IN THIS COUNTRY!

Read this great description what Republicans does, & represents,
“All politicians are whores. They all have their hands out for bribes. It takes money to get any form of legislation from our corrupt politicians unless it’s an issue like flag burning or some other innocuous "patriotic" appearing BS.

The Republicans would rather see America fail than work with Democrats to restore the economy. 8 years of Bush just about ruined America. We invaded the wrong country on the premise of lies. Money was made by big oil and defense contractor in exchange for American lives.

Republicans in my opinion are far more pernicious than Democrats because Republicans cater solely to the rich. They take money from the poor and middle class and give it to the rich while spending whatever else they can on the military and occupying every nation on Earth. Republicans are willing to go to war at the drop of a hat.

Democrats are all whores too, but at least they would prefer to spend money on the people of America and not the militaristic empire that Republicans seem to adore. Democrats tend to level the playing field for the working man while Republicans have their hands down the working man’s pants picking it for change.

We really need to end lobbying and special interest legislation. We also need term limits.
Rather than have the super rich lawyers all vying for political office, a lottery of service should be considered. Who spends millions of dollars to get elected to a job that pays 120k a year? Our whole system has become such a joke and not one of our "representatives" (but especially the Republicans) can relate to the life we live. They've all become elitists "kings" running their fiefdom of power.”

I for one welcome his vial and nasty hate comments off the air waves for one who was quick to place the blame on the right for hate he sure shoveled much of it every night . Did not care for his personal attacks on people with demeaning names or just his holier than thou attitude that he expressed in his special comments segment . He was over the top many times and I rank him as the " WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD " every night and day as long as he was on TV. I know he will return someday but the longer he is off the air the better ! Good Riddance Mr Olbermann !

The truth about me is - if Olbermann would just COMPLETELY put away the politics, I liked him as a sports-commentator. It'd be fine w/ me to have him back on ESPN, as long as he was like, under threat of non-negotiable circumcision or sumthin' if he even once, opened his freakin' pie-hole about Bush or Palin or TeaPartiers, or spoke in any approving way about Dunham-Soetoro!

i think its time to maxout and start reneging on all my ge moneybank issued credit cards, i dont like dealing with india anyway. will also call all my friends with comcast. guess which brand wont be in my home anymore?

Wow !! really nice blog. It will be very useful for me. So, thanks for sharing this post.

This whole thing is a huge violation of anti-trust. The corporate takeover of the ALL media continues. the American Iron Curtain is being drawn. soon we will be like Russia of the 60's. Spoon fed more propaganda with no alternative.

God Speed to you Keith. I will miss you, you are the best.

Olbermann was a coward for not allowing opposing views on his show.

So Keith where can we find you now. We miss you!!!
