The media industry is coming together to help the family of Will Flannery, a vice president at Fox Cable Networks who died suddenly last fall.

On Monday, Fox and satellite broadcaster DirecTV are hosting a casino night to help raise money for a scholarship fund being established for Flannery’s daughters, Sarah and Norah, in association with the National Alliance for Healthy Communities. The event is being held at the JW Marriott downtown at 7 p.m. Companies taking part in the event besides Fox and DirecTV include Comcast, Showtime, NBC, CBS, Discovery, MTV and AT&T.

So far, about 300 people are expected to attend the event, which takes place on the eve of the cable industry’s annual convention in Los Angeles. Besides his stint at Fox, Flannery also worked at DirecTV and Sony Pictures. Flannery’s friends at Fox chose to go with a casino-themed fundraiser because he was an avid poker player.
