The new A-B-C’s at ABC. Disney’s ABC finally unveiled their new executive structure after merging the network’s entertainment operations with ABC Studios. Here’s the analysis from Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, Deadline Hollywood Daily and The Los Angeles Times.

Green light. The Senate Commerce Committee has approved the nomination of Jules Genachowski as chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, per Broadcasting & Cable. Robert McDowell, a Republican nominee for commissioner, was also approved. Full Senate vote could come before July 4.

Bygones! Viacom CEO Sumner Redstone and Tom Cruise appear to have completely made peace as evidenced by Variety’s story that the star’s is signing on to do another ‘Mission Impossible’ movie for Paramount.

Commercial Clutter. The Wrap reports that there will be fewer traditional commercial breaks on TV this fall, particularly on cable, but not necessarily less commercials. Meanwhile, Broadcasting & Cable says there has been a slight, slight thaw in negotiations between broadcast networks and advertisers in the upfront market.

Stop showing off your Blackberry. It’s not cool anymore. BreakingViews says Blackberry envy is fading in these tough economic times. Bad news for parent company Research in Motion.

Good timing. Facebook is now offering a version of its site in Persian. Barron’s Eric Savitz says, ‘anything that helps the protesters get out the story of what is going on over there is a good thing for everyone not named Ahmadinejad.’
