Judge rebuffs SAG's Rosenberg

A judge on Tuesday denied a temporary restraining order sought by SAG President Alan Rosenberg to block negotiations between the union and the major studios.

Ctlogosmall_3Rosenberg and three other board members are seeking to overturn a recent vote by a majority of board members that ousted the union's chief negotiator and disbanded the union's negotiating committee, contending that the action violated the state's corporate code.

But Los Angeles Superior Court Judge James Chalfant denied the request for an injunction, citing several technical errors in the lawsuit, and ordered that the complaint be resubmitted. A hearing on the case will be held Thursday. The litigation has delayed contract negotiations that were set to resume this week.

"They are so desperate to hold on to their power that they are willing to burn down their own house,'' said New York SAG President Sam Freed, one of the board members being sued. Rosenberg declined to comment.

Get rid of Rosenburg and Allen, put the working man back to work and give their salaries to charirty, or any bum standing on a freeway offramp. Even if the bum was lieng and was a millionaire it would be better than paying those two theives.

That's what Sam Freed may've said.
Contrarily, I have heard from many, many SAG actors who feel that they can't let the bad contract, and the AMPTP, get away with such meager offering. That, if that contract is accepted; then they will not be able to continue, as actors. That's a perspective that isn't making it into the papers, somehow. But it's pretty serious. There are many actors who are behind Alan Rosenberg...They just are too afraid to say it, publicly, because the AMPTP are the people who do the actor-hiring.
It's a bad situation. But, it doesn't matter, really, if the actors' issues get covered in the press, or even if Alan Rosenberg is made to appear like a lunatic. The truth, underlying all this press coverage, is that the actors are very upset. And feel exploited. That is not going to go away, because whatever goes into this contract, when agreed upon, will stand. And with all this attention on it--right or wrong will prevail, and quite publicly.
