Bus >> San Francisco's getting new, green smart buses, at least on a trial basis. The SFist is rather snarky about the whole deal -- "it's sort of like teaching a dumb kid how to fold origami when what he really needs is a math tutor" -- but I'd love to see this feature on L.A. buses: "Prominent display of on-bus, real-time information, including status of connections at key transfer points. Allows riders to reach their destinations more reliably." The buses are also hybrids with free wi-fi.

>> A front yard becomes an edible garden-to-be. Russ Parsons at Daily Dish shares his plans for a yummy  veggie garden of his own.

>> A fierce battle to stop coal plants. "Every time a new coal-fired power plant is proposed anywhere in the United States, a lawyer from the Sierra Club or an allied environmental group is assigned to stop it, by any bureaucratic or legal means necessary."

>> How to throw an eco-friendly Earth Day party for the office. Umbra has the details, from eco-liquor to a prioritized enviro-advice list.
