A.M. Greenlist: Earth Day prep advice

>> Stop by Earth Day on the Promenade today before 7 pm!

Greener2

>> Wear your love for public transit. In time for Earth Day, Metro's now offering organic cotton T-shirts and a lanyard made with recycled bottles.

Ecosneaks >> De-car and walk in eco-friendly shoes. Simple Shoes launched "Stop Global Warming" shoes made of eco-friendly materials including organic cotton, hemp, recycled PET, and 100% post consumer paper pulp. Buy a pair and $5 will get donated to StopGlobalWarming.org.

>> Get cheap solar panels. We're talking "a low down payment -- say $1,000 or $2,000 -- and then your monthly fees [to SolarCity] combined with your new electric bill will be less than your old electric bill." Read an interview with Cali-based company SolarCity's CEO Lyndon Rive. Earlier: Get solar-powered without dealing with hefty initial costs.

>> Get a carpool set up for your kids.  With Divide the Ride, create a kids' carpool with families you know. Save the environment, time, and gas while letting your children build friendships with fellow carpoolers.

Also there is another way to find a carpool for free. It is called RideSearch.com. With rideSearch people look for othersqho live near where they live and work near they work. Great idea. They will be in LA at the green apple festival.
