The Bey's Garden Day Spa: Intensely relaxing organic facials

After all the research on eco-friendly facials, I had to treat myself to one. So yesterday, I biked over to get pampered, eco-style, at The Bey's Garden Day Spa & Aromatherapy Boutique.

This environmentally-conscious spa sits on Main Street in Santa Monica, offering eco-versions of beauty regimens. Non-toxic, eco-friendly mani-pedis? Check. Soy-based waxing treatments with no petroleum products? Check. Massages using only essential oils? Check.

Bey I went for the organic Eminence Facial ($90). My esthetician Hillary led me to a cozy little private room. Here, I relaxed under a warm sheet on a comfy table, listening to soothing music while Hillary massaged, exfoliated, and moisturized my face with Eminence products -- a Hungarian line made using organically-grown herbs, fruits, and veggies. My face got the most thorough extraction I've ever gotten -- and my hands, feet, and shoulders all received great mini-massages during the hour-long treatment.

Hillary also answered all sorts of skin care questions I had and gave me some tips (I've been breaking out a lot with the weather changes). Afterwards, my face was fresh and glowy -- if a little reddish from the extraction. I browsed through the boutique store up front, which offers Eminence products, soy wax candles, essential oils, among other eco-friendly goodies, then biked home relaxed and happy and ready for spring.
