The Eco-organizer: De-cluttering with a green twist

This week's eco-topic: Green clean

Ecoorganizer

House so messy you're scared even to call in a green cleaning service? If you've gotten to the point where your closet's a hopeless jumble and your garage too packed with junk to actually park cars, you might need the Eco-Organizer to get you out of that mess.

The Eco-Organizer's Seana Hansen's one-woman company. What exactly makes her services eco? "It's the mentality that goes behind the whole process of organizing," Seana says. "When the client is deciding to get rid of something, I'll think of the best way" to dispose of it -- whether that's selling, donating -- or even finding ways for her client to reuse the item.

Along with her organizing work, Seana dispenses eco-lessons for the client, finding ways to green each home without spending more money. "Ninety percent of organizing is maintenance," Seana says. So to help the client keep their homes neat and efficient after her work's done, Seana encourages opting for products with less packaging and gives tips on saving water and energy.

The cost: $50 an hour, though with package deals and referral bonuses, you can get that down to as little as $25 an hour. The Eco-Organizer serves all of LA plus the Valley; Culver City's about the southern limit of her cleaning reach. Call (818) 279-8167 to get started.
