Greenlist: Less gas and vinyl

>> Tighter car fuel standards -- 35 mpg fleetwide average by 2020 -- make it through the Senate version of the energy bill. Downside: The bill now keeps oil industry tax breaks intact and has ditched a requirement that forces utilities to generate more electricity from cleaner sources. The House is expected to pass the bill next week, and Bush is expected to sign it.
>> Fewer holiday flights! People aren't expected to fly as much this holiday season. Record delays and rising fuel costs are the suspected reasons.
>> Sears and Kmart join IKEA, Wal-Mart and Target in pledging to phase out PVC, aka vinyl. Avoid the scary stuff!
