Eco Gift Expo: Green holiday shopping
Procrastinated on your holiday shopping? You can get it all done this weekend at the Eco Gift Expo, which'll feature 150 companies offering all manner of eco-friendly gifts.
When: Sat., Dec. 15, 9 am - 8 pm and Sun., Dec. 16, 9 am - 5 pm
Where: Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, 1855 Main St., Santa Monica
Cost: $10; free for seniors and children under 12
Exhibitors range from big companies like Whole Foods to smaller eco-conscious boutiques like the fair trade paper products company Banyan Paper, organic clothing company bgreen (I got some of their panties for my birthday -- they're comfy!) and Santa Monica's own Natural High Lifestyles.
So instead of stressing about the CO2 emissions from the shipping for your internet purchases, bike or take the Big Blue Bus over and check out the products first hand. There'll also be an organic food court and entertainment for the entire family. Plus, the expo will donate 10% of its gross event proceeds to Global Green USA and Whole Planet Foundation.
I plan to bike over around noon on Saturday. LA Times is a sponsor -- aka "emerald partner" -- btw. I learned about this sponsorship not from LA Times itself but from a PR person working on behalf of Eco Gift Expo. Funny how news comes in a round about way --
Previously: Cute Green Holiday Cards , Charitable giving -- with benefits, and a Green gift guide for babies and kids.
