Thursday, Nov. 8
Downtown Art Walk and Shuttle (free) -- All over downtown Los Angeles. noon to 9 p.m. Take a self-guided tour that showcases the many downtown art exhibition venues. If you get tired, try the free Art Walk shuttle, which runs from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Hermosa Beach Green Drinks (free, pay for own drinks) -- Sangria, 68 Pier Ave., Hermosa Beach. 7 p.m. Green Drinks has no agenda or theme. The event is simply composed of the people who attend. All you have to do is show up ready to hang out and meet a few like-minded people over drinks.
"A Crude Awakening" screening (free with RSVP) -- The Armory Center for the Arts, Pasadena. 7 p.m. This 90-minute documentary exposes the uncomfortable realities of a world that is both addicted to fossil fuels and blissfully unaware of the looming peak oil crisis. Space limited, RSVP required.
Saturday, Nov. 10
Universal Studios Hollywood Eco-Fair (free with admission) -- Universal Studios Hollywood, 100 Universal City Plaza, Universal City. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Eco-Fair will make Universal Studios Hollywood a green family destination for a day. Activities and displays — many of them with hands-on interactive features -- will range from simulated tide pools to Segway personal transporters, solar-powered blenders and eco-friendly popcorn poppers.
"Lost, found, remembered" art opening reception (free) -- Regeneration, 1649 Colorado Blvd., Los Angeles. 6 to 9 p.m. Attend an opening reception for artist Anna Magnuson, whose work will be on display at eco-boutique Regeneration through December.
Sunday, Nov. 11
Flights of Fancy: the Stairway Homes of Echo Park ($20) -- Williams Hall, 2000 Stadium Way, Los Angeles. 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Explore some of L.A.’s unique and little-known public stairways during the 2007 Historic Echo Park Home Tour, which will highlight homes on or near the public stairways in Echo Park, Angelino Heights and Elysian Heights. The self-guided tour begins at Williams Hall, where visitors can pick up tickets, a program and a map and then see the homes in any order they want.
Earth Expeditions at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County: the Lost World (free with museum admission) -- Jean Delacour Auditorium, Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, 900 Exposition Blvd., Los Angeles. 2 p.m. Dr. Bruce Beehler, vice president of the Melanesia Program at Conservation International, will speak as part of the Natural History Museum's Earth Expeditions, a new series of Sunday events featuring some of the most renowned conservation scientists and explorers. Beehler will discuss highlights of the findings from his expeditions.
EcoModelo Inaugural Show - 12804 Venice Blvd. Los Angeles. 4 p.m. EcoModelo will host its inaugural gallery show, featuring work by emerging artists who will donate 20% of net sales from the show to environmental charities.
