Bring the Expo Line to Santa Monica
So many transit meetings, so little time! Now that the public meetings about extending the subway to the Westside are over, meetings about bringing the Expo line from Culver City to Santa Monica -- a.k.a. Expo Phase 2 -- are starting up.
As you've probably heard, the Expo is a light rail line that'll hopefully stretch from Downtown L.A. to Santa Monica. Phase 1, which connects Downtown L.A. to USC to Culver City, is underway and expected to open in the summer of 2010.
Phase 2 will be completed sometime rather far in the future, though some say it could be as soon as 2015. So far, the Expo Construction Authority has held a bunch of meetings for community input and now has "initial screening results."
These results and recommendations are going to be shared with the public at the upcoming meetings (all from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.):
* Monday, Oct. 22: Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, East Wing Meeting Room, 1855 Main St., Santa Monica
* Wednesday, Oct. 24: Venice High School Auditorium, 13000 Venice Blvd., Los Angeles
* Thursday, Oct. 25: Vista del Mar Child and Family Services Gymnasium, 3200 Motor Ave., Los Angeles
Be there! I'm planning to attend the Santa Monica meeting. Say hello if you do too.
