It’s official: The worst Dodgers season ever

Sometimes, life happens. Anyway, I think the expression goes something like that.

Rookie Rubby De La Rosa has a sprained elbow ligament and absolutely no one should be blamed for immediately expecting the worst.

If not completely the if-it-can-go-wrong-it-will season for the Dodgers -- there is Matt Kemp and Clayton Kershaw! -- team followers will be excused if it feels like it.

Reaction to the promising De La Rosa’s injury seems to have team supporters tiptoeing on the edge of the bridge, looking deep into the current and acting like there’s no talking them down.

There have been worse Dodger teams, but there has never been a worse, more depressing season.

It’s not just the team’s poor performance, but the never-ending injuries and the continued bad soap opera of ownership. Unless you think the Dodgers being in bankruptcy court is no biggie.

Really, it’s somewhat amazing the team has played as well as it has considering the gloom that constantly seems to permeate everything Dodgers.

Now comes De La Rosa’s elbow injury. After awhile, you would think you’d become numb to the body blows, but this one stings.

He certainly seems done for the year, and the way things have been going, it’s understandable everyone immediately anticipates Tommy John surgery. It’s possible he may not, of course, but when a club is on this kind of roll you become conditioned to expecting the most dire result possible. Also, the most likely.

Maybe you’re of the mind to blame the Dodgers or call it McCourt karma, but really, sometimes this stuff happens independently of management or misguided ownership.

De La Rosa had yet to reach the 110 innings he’d pitched last season, so it’s not like he had been pushed beyond his limits.

Dodgers fans, however, may have. Careful, though, it’s still a long way down. ALSO:
