Andre Ethier's hot hitting reigns in April

Andre Ethier finished off an April to remember Saturday, collecting two more hits to not only extend his career-high hitting streak to 26 but tie a club record for hits in April.

Ethier referred to these monthly records as arbitrary, which I suppose is true, not that he didn’t take a reasonable modicum of pride in it.

"It’s fun, you add your name to another part of Dodger history, that’s pretty special and I take pride in being a part of," Ethier said.

His 40 hits tied Mike Piazza (1996) and Rafael Furcal (2008) for the most April hits in club history.

Previously he had surpassed his former manager, Joe Torre, for the longest major-league hitting streak in April.

And his 26-game hitting streak is the second-longest in Los Angeles Dodgers history, trailing only franchise record-holder Willie Davis, who had a 31-game streak in 1969.

"It’s fun, it’s enjoyable," he said. "But I want to go up there and get hits every at-bats, not just when I have a streak going."

He’s batting .400 in his streak and has had 10 multihit games during the stretch.
