Dodgers trustee to meet with media Wednesday
Tom Schieffer, appointed as the Dodgers' trustee by Commissioner Bud Selig, is scheduled to hold a news conference in Los Angeles on Wednesday.
Dodgers owner Frank McCourt won't be there. McCourt will be in New York to meet with executives from Selig's office, in part for an explanation of exactly what Schieffer's role will be with the Dodgers.
Schieffer, the former president of the Texas Rangers, was appointed Monday by Selig to oversee "the day-to-day operations, business and finances of the Dodgers and all of the franchise's related entities."
He will have approval rights of any expenditure over $5,000.

Best thing he could do would be to negotiate multi-year extensions with Kemp and Ethier. Kershaw would be nice too, but not as time-sensitive.

So McCourt is going to New York to find out precisely what Schieffer's job is gonna be with Los Doyers... Maybe McBroke shoulda stayed in LA so he could attend Schieffer's press conference to find out what Schieffer's job is, and to avoid the expenses of the trip to NY. And did Schieffer have to approve the travel expenses for McBroke and his party to head east?

My understanding is that Scheiffer doesn't start approving Financial Moves regarding The Dodgers until tomorrow... ( w. 4.28.11 )
I don't know what McCourt is going to be saying to The MLB Executives in New York but I've got a feeling his words are going to fall on Deff Ears.
I know someone who has somekind of behind the scenes information and is saying something very Big is going to happen by June ?
He is hinting at a New Owner it seems ???
The only way I can see a sale that fast is if McCourt cooperates ?
Why would he cooperate ?
(A) The Price is too good to walk away from or...
(B) He has serious Tax trouble and he is aware of it even though the public is not aware of it yet so He needs to sell in order to pay his Taxes and stay out of Prison ?
(C) He is selling only part of The team and The Comissioner is willing to accept this because The new Investor(s) will be The Majority Owner and The accountable person ?
(D) ???? Your Guess is as good as mine ????

What part of "...he is here ONLY to oversee the business operations of the team and will do NOTHING in regard to the baseball operations side of the team..." do all of you not freaking understand? He is NOT running the Dodgers. He is here to preserve the starus quo and stop any financial bleeding that is going on as well as evaluate the books to find all the bodies.
What is is likely going to look at quite closely is what McCourt has done with the property the Dodgers, Inc. (I assume the Dodgers are an incorporated company) owned when he bought the team. You know like the parking lot, the stadium as well as the land around the stadium. McCourt spun all of those off into their own companies. And right now nobody knows what the actual ownership of those entities might be. It might be those properties are no longer owned by the Dodgers period and untouchable by the league. McCourt is quite adept at that sort of rape and pillage method of doing business.
But do not expect this whatever his name is to do squat anything. If Colletti and the whoever is running baseball operations decides the team needs to make a personnel move odds are this guy will pass it on the the league offices and it will get rubber stamped. That was how they did things in Texas.
My concern is Selig is making this his personal vendetta. Selig fears a financially sound as wealthy Dodgers team. Otherwise why would he have enforced McCourt to buy the team when there were BILLIONAIRES looking to buy the team? I mean it is not as if McCourt has ANY prior experience in baseball to add to the case of his being granted ownership. All McCourt is, is a slick-Willie real estate scammer. Look all of their income was reported to be from loans which is how they avoided taxes. BTW, it was also reported that it was a legal option and that it is a fairly common legal tax dodge. McCourt might be an unethical piece of pond scum but he is also not stupid in these matters.

Did the Dodgers have to pay for this McCourt disease to go to NY and take that fat boy Soboroff along also?
