Dodgers to have fundraiser for injured Giants fan Bryan Stow on Monday at Dodger Stadium
The Dodgers have announced a drive-through, fundraising relief effort for Byran Stow on Monday at Dodger Stadium.
The Dodgers and American Medical Response, which employs Stow as a paramedic, will co-host the event.
Stow, 42, is the Giants fan critically beaten in the Dodger Stadium parking lot after last week’s season opener. He remains in a medically induced coma.
The Dodgers and local media outlets -- KCAL/9, Prime Ticket, KABC 790-am, Univision Radio and the Los Angeles Times -- will join in the effort to collect funds scheduled to go directly to the trust fund established by the Stow family to assist Stow and his children.
The drive-through effort is scheduled Monday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the stadium’s Parking Lot No.1.
Cash and checks will be accepted. Checks should be made out to: The Bryan Stow Family.
Donations are also accepted for those with a PayPal account using a credit card, logging in and selecting the “Send Money” option, personal, gift, with the recipient: stowdonations@gmail.com. The fund is also accepting donations online at www.sfpcu.org.
The Dodgers said names of community supporters who will collect funds during the drive-through will be announced in the next few days.

How much is Frank McCourt contributing? Why isn't he picking up the tab for this guys medical bills?

dodgers are going to get majorly sued!!!

Nice to see very dissapointed it took the organization this the O'malley family would have never taken this long!!! This is why I'm no longer a Dodger fan too many ownership changes and the tradition was lost when the O'malley family GO ANGELS!!!!!!

The Dodgers should not have to have a fund-raiser if security was managed the correct way!!! Just another way the dodger orgainization has changed for the worse GO ANGELS!!!!!!!

Why should anybody but Frank McCourt foot the ball for this? What happened is squarely on his greedy, cheap shoulders. For him to ask the good people of Los Angeles to fund this only adds to my contempt for this guy.

Now Frank wants Dodger fans to pay for his screw up. Frank is probably also going to take a cut of the donations for himself or his cronies.
Boycott the Dodgers until he is gone, he is a crook!

As facts are being revealed painting a portrait of a grossly negligent Frank McCourt failing to provide adequate security at Dodger Stadium...is it reasonable for Dodgers fans to expect McCourt to step up to the plate and match all donations made to Bryan Stow and his family.

Steve Lopez cuts through the Frank McCourt crap quite nicely in his column today. Maybe Lopez has an agenda...like honesty...decency...love of the game. Refreshing.

McCourt says he "hears" the complaints now. What about the years of complaints? If he cares what's really going on, step out of your luxury box and sit with the fans. Make all of Dodger management park in the public lots and watch the game from the cheap seats. Only then, will you "hear" and see what's really going on.

Yes, McCourt is a Grade A jackwagon, but that's no reason not to support Mr. Stowe's family as they deal with all of this. If you don't want to help the Dodgers' ownership look good, give directly through the San Francisco Police credit union link above, or the Giants (either San Francisco or San Jose, where he often worked ballgames taking care of fans who needed medical attention), or American Medical Response.

I think all fans should be glad to send a donation to the Bryan Stow Fund.

No matter how terrible a person McCourt has shown himself to be, please don't let that get in the way of helping if you are able. There are alot of expenses that will add up for the rest of Bryan's life. He won't be able to earn a living for his two kids not to mention he will not be able to moved north to where his family can better look after his needs for quite some time still; forcing them travel back and forth in shifts. L.A. will always be my hometown and i know that not all angels are lost. Not talking about the ones in O.C. who take the oppurtunity of a terrible tragedy to dig at the only professional franchise to make a significant and positive impact in the history of sports despite the current ownership malaise it has become mired in. Living is hard, giving is easy.

I'm all for supporting Bryan Stow and his family, but come on McCourt, you have some nerve asking your fans to donate funds when you should be taking care of this all yourself. Especially considering the hundreds of Millions of $$ you have, and that you have ignored ongoing security issues for YEARS!!!
Pretty sad when people who have no association with the team kicking in more $$ than you have.

Geez people taking this horrible incident to engage in fan war. Go Angels? Pathetic. Although we can blame McCourt for the lack of security, we should simply look in the mirror and ask ourselves what is happening to our community. We continue to blame others and avoid responsibility. We did not change when Brian Powers died in a fight at Angel Stadium, we did not change after we saw a sad display of human behavior after Lakers' championships....in fact we actually had a false sense of pride for simply acting like fools.
This is not a Dodgers' issue. Its a society issue. Let fix this and stop pointing fingers.

Has anyone probed to see what LAPD or the Dodgers are doing to find the culprits? Did the Dodgers really have security cameras operating? Has any third party reviewed the tapes? Have they seen any connections between the sketches and faces in the cameras? Didn't people going to the game need to buy one of Frank's ticket packages to get into the game? Isn't that a start to connecting the dots? Great to know LA fans are supporting the family. I am. But how about some effort to nail these guys (and the driver and youngster)?

What Would Manny Do?
Posted by: Manny_wouldn't | 04/09/2011 at 08:53 AM
I have been a Dodger fan since I was a kid. 50 years of loyalty. I moved to Northern California when I was 10, but have stayed loyal to the Dodgers. Until now. If they don't offer to pay for all of Stow's medical expenses, I have no respect for the organization. Go Giants!
Posted by: Robin McDuff | 04/09/2011 at 05:06 PM
I won't have to participate in this fundraiser because I just sent my check directly to the Bryan Stow Fund along with a letter expressing my condolences and my thorough contempt for Frank McCourt.
I'd also ask here why Frank isn't footing Stow's entire medical bill himself, but I already know why. McCourt is, as David says, "Grade A jackwagon".

Remember back in '65 when Johnny Roseboro got hit in the head buy a bat wielding Juan Marichal? Yeah That's the Giants/Dodgers rivalry.

What needs to happen is to limit the amount of east la folk into dodger games.

My heart goes out to this family, to this man. I understand all so well what they must be going through. My son was jumped and beaten too, in a comma for 4 months. That happened Aug 19/09 and my son is still brain damaged and in the hospital. I cried for this family, I know all they have to go through. Please people these kind of things need to stop. I have known or known of so many people who have been jumped and beaten and for very little reason. Sending them my love, my hugs.
