Dodgers GM Ned Colletti receives guidelines from MLB, is still reporting to Frank McCourt

Lh3he3nc General Manager Ned Colletti said on Friday that he still didn’t know who would be appointed by the commissioner’s office to oversee the Dodgers, or when.

But in speaking to Major League Baseball on Thursday night, Colletti said he was informed of the basic guidelines the baseball operations department would be under.

“All I know is, from the baseball perspective, we’re operating under the same guidelines we were before,” Colletti said.

And what kind of guidelines were there before?

“Budgetary guidelines,” he said.

Asked to whom he would report until Commissioner Bud Selig appoints a trustee, Colletti replied, “I still report to Frank [McCourt].”

Colletti said he has exchanged text messages with the embattled owner to inform him about roster moves and injuries.

Ned better hope Selig doesn't appoint Kim Ng to oversee Dodgers operation. Her first line of business may be to fire Ned.

Getting rid of McCourt is great, but as long as Colletti is GM, the Dodgers are playing with at least one hand tied behind their back. Where do you start with this guy's incompetence over the past years? Five year deal for Juan Pierre? Three year massive deal for Jason Schmidt? Two year gigantic deal for Andruw Jones? Ten million dollars or so for Esteban Loaiza? Jason Bell for George Sherrill? Mark Hendrickson and Brett Tomko? "We thought we made a better offer than Philadelphia for Cliff Lee"? Steve Podsednik? Holding on to Russell Martin two years longer than anyone else would have?

Why a few media people want to give Colletti any positive credit is really beyond me. Probably it's because he's a nice guy, and maybe they feel a little sorry for him. But he's just about the antithesis of Buzzie Bavasi or Al Campanis in terms of being able to evaluate players or make smart trades. At least he will probably not be allowed to give away what is left of our once top-drawer farm system for a couple more relief pitchers or washed-up pinch hitters.

Ned must be a very calm man. In light of all of the issues concerning the Dodgers, I've never seen him mad or a single hair ever out of place.

Ned must be a very calm man. In light of all of the issues concerning the Dodgers, I've never seen him mad or a single hair ever out of place.

That's because Ned wears a rug!!!!!

The fundamental questions remain-

Why is the player personnel budget in LA $104 million and the $207 million in New York?

Or why the Angels can afford a $141 million budget in the same market...

That's why the Dodgers are always 2 or 3 quality players away from being competitive with the best teams.

The fish rots from the head down.

I'm sure Ned has refreshed his resume. No way the next owner keeps him. As documented, too many boneheaded signings for dumfounding sums. Sports Illustrated hasn't looked at all the dollar store signings Ned has so brilliantly made, for detritus who have crowded out the rookies, who need the ABs.

Wondering who in MLB is really in charge. Selig more and more looks like Ronald Reagan, who couldn't decide squat without a screenwriter and a script. His answers on the stump sound like grandpa wondering out loud what his address is. The guy behind the throne may be the guy who appoints himself overseer. So long as it isn't Corey Busch, ANOTHER ex-Giant who helped McCourt obtain the Dodgers.

IF the plan is to announce a sale, i only hope it happens this year, so by winter we have a new owner in place. If MLB discovers the books are in disarray and McCourt has more skeletons to be hauled out into the open than we can imagine, wishfully, the sale may be rushed into even sooner.

Thank you Bud Selig for finally taking back the monster (Frank McCourt) you created.. Not it's time to clean house just as F.McCrook did when he was allowed to purchase the Dodgers. NED COLLETTI YOU'RE NEXT. After your ridiculous comment, "this is a sad day for Dodger baseball". That was the best day for Dodger fans since Gibsons hr!!! Not discussing you're job performance because that wouldn't save you. But with that comment alone just bought you a ticket out of Dodger stadium. Us Dodger fans will not tolerate any more lies from management Mr. Colletti. The head of the snake has been cut off but there's alot of little snakes still in the stadium. You're next Colletti!!

It all started when we put all our eggs in one basket (no easter pun intended) with Manny Ramirez. $20 mil. per season, then the steroid suspension. McDufus does not or will not ever understand the game of baseball. He all along was looking out for his pockets. Mannywood / Manny Wigs = profit profit profit. Stuffing the money in his and Jamies pocket and draining the equity out of the team for their own personal gain. Well it has caught up to him and Now maybe he and Manny can go vacation together. You do not draw fans into the ballpark by raising Ticket and Parking prices. If he was a smart businessman he would have left parking at $8.00 and keep ticket prices the same. He could have upped the food and beer a bit but any smart business person knows you have to get fans in to see the show, but charging for expensive parking and tickets sent a red flag up to Dodger fans. The incident with the Giant fan even moreso put McLOSER in the hot seat. Very glad as a fan that someday we will rid ourselfs of this mess and the Dodgers will return back to a well run organization.

Fox advances Frank McCourt money to help cover Dodgers' operating expenses LATIMES SPORTS
An individual close to the situation declined to say how much money had been advanced. It is unclear whether the cash advance indicates the Dodgers are in immediate financial trouble.

Alliance between Fox and Frank McCourt spells trouble for Dodgers
The TV network and the club's owner are linked to the sinking of the once-proud franchise, and they could be connected for years to come.

Interesting how this article is written. Notice that FOX is giving the advance not to the McCourts but to Frank McCourt. What is that about? Have the courts ruled in favor of Frank as the owner? Is this a ploy by the GOOD-OL-BOYS CLUB to keep Frank as the owner of the Dodgers? I hope Jamie kicks the GOOD-OL-BOYS where the sun doesn’t shine. I don’t mean in the A** either.
Your articles also implies the name McCourt means Frank McCourt. This can be seen in the last sentence …
This situation clearly indicates the opposition to a woman as an owner in Baseball. This is clearly indicated within the description of the Relationship between Fox and Frank McCourt and the assumption the McCourt means Frank. Either the writer is behind the times or the male influence is messed up within the Fox Corporation or some other outrageous reason.
In any case my vote is now with Jamie and bringing back civility to Dodger Blue.
The Dodger True Blue fans are the least concern of Frank McCourt. The McCourt’s or now we see it is really “FRANK” who needs the money to pay for his divorce and as usual the GOOD-OL-BOYS are teaming up while the public is going to pay and pay and pay. It is time to boycott FOX and Frank. Sorry Dodger employees and players. Maybe you should go on strike and Bench Frank McCourt.

While I admit that I have attended very few Dodger games, I remember the Dodgers of the Coliseum era and later the Dodgers of Chavez Ravine. The few times I went were fun and exciting. That is all the people of Los Angeles want from the McCourt’s.

Instead we got McCourt Drama. This divorce of the McCourt’s sounds like the “War of the Roses”
It looks to me like FOX and FRANK MCCOURT are teaming up to over through Jamie McCourt?
Here comes the real screwing. The Dodger True Blue fans are the least concern of Frank McCourt. McCourt as we now call Frank … the man … need money to pay for their divorce and as usual the public is going to pay and pay and pay. It is time to boycott the McCourts. Sorry Dodger employees and players. Maybe you should go on strike and Bench the McCourt’s. The McCourt’s are definitely not the O’Malley’s.
The Dodger Blue of the O’Malley’s has been stained and discolored to Black and Blue with an indeterminate number of bruises, deep cuts and wounds and broken bones.
Frank has misled the people of Los Angeles … The men, women, and children that trusted them for a clean, fun, and entertaining baseball team. The team is clean the owners are not.
Hay Vin … do you have any cash?

Jamie McCourt demands Dodgers' financial data, blasts Frank's 'secret deal' with Fox

This is not a surprise after reading the Courts decision regarding the maneuvering between Fox Sports and dear Frank McCourt.
Go for it Jamie … in California it is share and share alike. One would assume that since the McCourt’s have been partners in Marriage then they would be partners in Business.
Yes Jamie kick A**!!!

How Boring. The one way this can all stop is to have the people of Los Angeles boycott the Dodgers until Frank and his ex beloved depart from the Los Angeles Scene.
Sorry Dodger Family members. The McCourts do have to go… NOW!!!
Our city needs to sell the Dodgers out by not attending their games until the McCourts are GONE!!!
The McCourts are the only Los Angeles Sports Family that has literally devoured themselves up to the self appointed point of extinction.

WOW!! I suppose you're also going to tell me that some players on the Dodgers used steroids to enhance their statistics!!

The sooner Ned is not reporting to Frank McCourt, the sooner we will be back to Dodger Stadium.

"I can hope" -- I'm afraid I'm hoping right there with you. I don't think Ned is the worst nor best GM, I just want Kim Ng back in the organization. It would be so perfect if she were the trustee appointed to help us out here.
