Placido Domingo will sing national anthem at Dodgers home opener
When the Dodgers play their home opener against the San Francisco Giants on Thursday at Dodger Stadium, none other than Plácido Domingo will perform the national anthem. The game, which will be televised on ESPN, will be the first in a series of four games against last year's World Series champions.
The Spanish tenor-- a huge sports fan -- will be joined by Broadway singer Davis Gaines, who will sing "God Bless America."
No stranger to Dodger Stadium, Domingo performed at the park in 1994 as part of the Three Tenors, with Luciano Pavarotti and Jose Carreras. That concert featured the Los Angeles Philharmonic conducted by Zubin Mehta.

Why wasn't I asked to sing?

I'm sure that'll ensure a sellout. Frank's pulling out all the stops.

Hey....it's Enrico Palazzo!

In keeping with the team spirit demonstrated for the last few years, Placido will screw up the lyrics, fail to hit the high notes, quit halfway through, and show absolutely no concern.

That's well and good, but can he play left field?

That's great. At least we can be assured that he will sing it properly.

He will sing great and the team will stink.

"Placido Domingo will sing national anthem at Dodgers home opener"
- in tribute a Dodger lore departed e'ermore, more apropos him sing the tragic "com'era bello" (translation 'How Beautiful It Was').
Judy Collins cantillating "Send In The Clowns" would be my second choice; come to think of it, don't bother... they're here.

likely to be the most classy moment of the season .....
which means of course that it all goes down hill from there.
