Dodgers' Jamey Carroll and Casey Blake making progress

The Dodgers’ infield is starting to piece itself back together.

Jamey Carroll, who hasn’t played in a Cactus League game in a week because of a bruised finger on his throwing hand, will start at shortstop on Thursday when the Dodgers play the Colorado Rockies at Camelback Ranch in Phoenix.

Carroll is expected to be the opening-day second baseman because of an injury to Casey Blake, who is recovering from back problems. With Blake out, Juan Uribe is expected to move from second base to third, creating an opening for Carroll.

Blake is making progress, as he was scheduled to undergo a full workout at Camelback Ranch.

Dodgers lineup vs. Colorado Rockies:

Paul LF
DeJesus 2B
Ethier RF
Kemp CF
Loney 1B
Navarro C
Miles 3B
Carroll SS
Kuroda P

Bullpen:

Broxton
Guerrier
MacDougal
Troncoso
