James Loney to undergo MRI on stiff knee

James Loney will undergo an MRI exam on his stiff left knee on Saturday, Manager Don Mattingly said.

Loney first felt something while stretching on Thursday. He played on Friday night, but felt stiff afterward.

Loney will be examined by Dr. Neal ElAttrache.

Mattingly said he didn’t think the problem was serious.

“He’s not feeling any pain,” Mattingly said. “We just want to find out early.”

With Loney out, rookie Russ Mitchell will play first base when the Dodgers host the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday at Camelback Ranch.
