James Loney to undergo MRI on stiff knee
James Loney will undergo an MRI exam on his stiff left knee on Saturday, Manager Don Mattingly said.
Loney first felt something while stretching on Thursday. He played on Friday night, but felt stiff afterward.
Loney will be examined by Dr. Neal ElAttrache.
Mattingly said he didn’t think the problem was serious.
“He’s not feeling any pain,” Mattingly said. “We just want to find out early.”
With Loney out, rookie Russ Mitchell will play first base when the Dodgers host the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday at Camelback Ranch.
Here’s the Dodgers lineup:
Furcal SS
Blake 3B
Ethier RF
Kemp CF
Gibbons DH
Uribe 2B
Barajas C
Mitchell 1B
Kapler LF
Kershaw P

Is Loney the new Wally Pip and is Jerry Sands the new Lou Gherig? It`d be neat.

You have got to be kidding me. It's baseball and spring training at that. Hurt while stretching??? Are these guys even athletes anymore? Just keep payin' the blue crew for sub par activity. If I sound harsh it's because I've been let down for so long. Startin' to feel like a Clipper fan in terms of embracing the Dodgers no matter what.

Nice to see Kapler getting the start. He's going to be such a valuable piece to this year's 4th place team.

via The Times' Dylan Hernandez: Don Mattingly doesn't expect to have the results of James Loney's MRI made official until Sunday. Mattingly said Dr. Neal Elattrache still wasn't in Arizona late Saturday.

Betcha he'll be day to day -- then come Opening Day he'll still be improving -- then come the 2nd week of April he'll be on the 15 day DL -- then the next thing you know he'll be done for the season -- that's how Conte works. If we ever get new owners I hope that Ned & Stan both get sacked... Conte has been horrible with diagnosing and treating injuries or assessing players health.
.
Sell the team!!! & Boycott until then!!!

This isn't the local softball beer league... If he felt something while stretching Thurs, why did he play Friday!
And forget about getting help from that fool Stan Conte, he needs to go see Victor Conte for the cream & clear.

Could be a blessing in disguise. Move Uribe to First and now the Dodgers have their 30/100 guy.
Heck, I'd even shake the dust off old man Kent and give him a shot at First. He's already in camp with Frisco, and is probably in better playing shape than most guys half his age.

no big loss if loney out......in fact, a classic case of "addition-by-subtraction"
