Red Sox chairman 'not interested' in bidding on Dodgers

Tom Werner, the Hollywood producer and chairman of the Boston Red Sox, said he does not plan to bid for the Dodgers should the team go up for sale.

"I'm not interested in exploring that possibility," Werner told Comcast Sports Net New England. "I'm having a great time in my role here."

Werner served as an executive producer for such shows as "Roseanne," "The Cosby Show" and "Grace Under Fire." He formerly owned the San Diego Padres, and he still lives in Beverly Hills, putting his name at the forefront of speculation about who might buy the Dodgers if the McCourt divorce results in the sale of the team.

Oakland Athletics owner Lew Wolff, who also lives in Los Angeles, said last month he had "no interest whatsoever" in buying the Dodgers.

Milwaukee Brewers owner Mark Attanasio, another Los Angeles resident, has declined all comment on the Dodgers. He is believed to be interested in exploring the possibility of buying the Dodgers should they become available.

Attanasio took his first step into the L.A. sports scene on Tuesday, when Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa appointed him to a "blue-ribbon commission" to evaluate the AEG proposal for a downtown football stadium.

Once the team goes up for sale, IF Ever, then you won't have to look for interested buyers.

Hey, don't forget about me!
.
Once I learn how to balance my checkbook I am ready to write that check.

With the emergence of the Dilbeck Consortium interest in purchasing the Dodgers...there has been a rapidly shrinking pool of potential buyers. Most parties intimidated no doubt by high rolling Steve's promise of "Free Parking...Free Beer...Free Agents."

Bring in somebody with Boston ties to buy the Dodgers? Brilliant idea!

According to a friend of mine, Ned's out dumpster diving again - RHP Merkin Valdez, another ex-Gnat.
.
This guy has absolutely no upside. The bully's crowded with RH RPs already. What's the point? Wouldn't it behoove Neddy to sign and invite marginal left handers to ST rather than stockpiling a bunch of less than worthless righties?
.
No offense, but how anyone can defend Ned and make excuses for him is beyond me. Only way any of this crap sticks is on the bottom of your shoe.

If allowed in, willing participant with Dilbeck Consortium - 134,000 miles '04 GMC Envoy and all.

alan19: I don't know if the Dilbeck Investment Group is ready to buy the Dodgers yet, but pretty sure we could open up a used car lot.

DIG the Dodgers - love it!

and what skyharbor says - free parking free beer free agents

Good news. Don't like Werner ever since he rolled out Roseanne Barr to sing the National Anthem in San Diego.

Don't like anything related or involved with Boston, particularly the McCourts.
