Tom Werner, the Hollywood producer and chairman of the Boston Red Sox, said he does not plan to bid for the Dodgers should the team go up for sale.

‘I’m not interested in exploring that possibility,’ Werner told Comcast Sports Net New England. ‘I’m having a great time in my role here.’

Werner served as an executive producer for such shows as ‘Roseanne,’ ‘The Cosby Show’ and ‘Grace Under Fire.’ He formerly owned the San Diego Padres, and he still lives in Beverly Hills, putting his name at the forefront of speculation about who might buy the Dodgers if the McCourt divorce results in the sale of the team.

Oakland Athletics owner Lew Wolff, who also lives in Los Angeles, said last month he had ‘no interest whatsoever’ in buying the Dodgers.

Milwaukee Brewers owner Mark Attanasio, another Los Angeles resident, has declined all comment on the Dodgers. He is believed to be interested in exploring the possibility of buying the Dodgers should they become available.

Attanasio took his first step into the L.A. sports scene on Tuesday, when Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa appointed him to a ‘blue-ribbon commission’ to evaluate the AEG proposal for a downtown football stadium.
