Family establishes memorial fund for Christina Green
A charitable fund in memory of Christina Green, the 9-year-old slain in Arizona on Saturday, has been established by her family. Green was one of six killed in the apparent assassination attempt on U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) by a gunman in Tucson.
Six died and 14 more were injured in the violence. Jared Lee Loughner, 22, has been charged in the shootings.
Green is the daughter of Dodgers scout John Green and the granddaughter of former major-league manager Dallas Green.
"Our family has been overwhelmed by the outpouring of love for our sweet Christina," John Green said in a statement. "This memorial fund will ensure her legacy for the children in our community."

In addition, the Dodgers have responded to the outpouring of offers of support for the family by establishing an e-mail address (greenfamily@dodgers.com) through which family, friends and members of the community can share thoughts about the tragedy. Submissions will be compiled into a memorial book for the family.
Letters also can be sent to the team at: Dodger Stadium, c/o the Green Family, 1000 Elysian Park Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90090.

We need to come up with something constructive out of this tragedy. Here is what we need to do.
In the past few years, there have seen too many senseless killings by people with boarder line personalities and/or full-fledged crazy people who owned and used assault rifles and automatic hand guns possessed under the disguise of the “Right to carry arms.” But, we tend to forget each tragedy until we are confronted by newly emerging tragedy. Certainly, all tragedies are traumatic to a normal person. The multiple tragedies we witnessed this time should make us think hard and out of the box. In the future we need not need to react to events or another tragedy like this. We need to be proactive to ensure that it would never happen again. At this point, The “We the people” instinct should be triggered and demand that Law makers we send to Washington do the right thing now -do something constructive to ensure that crazy people don’t get hold of guns that normally belong to the armed forces and not to the average citizen. It is time to understand the lives lost and the danger of selling guns like any other commodities. Christina’s Foundation, I believe should have a task to make the sells of such weapons unlawful. America has now reached the plateau of civilization and no one except the army should carry guns. Like in the UK where even the Police don’t carry a gun we need to clean up the infestations here in this country. Why don’t we adopt the same law like in the UK? I believe, our culture and civilization has reached its plateau and our law has to evolve accordingly to meet the demand of the time. Just because certain political group believed on having guns, display on National TV their shooting skills, brag about owning a pile of guns and promote the need to own guns, we need not be silenced and expose ourselves to dangers posed by infestation of guns. I believe it is time to question the “Right to bear arms” and if possible get rid of it. If not at least let us ensure that all gun buyers produce a mental health certification before they can buy and hold a gun and limit the purchase to only one non automatic had gun only if certified as having a sound mental health. Here the role of universal health care is incalculable because it will have a database for every citizen’s health health status and be addressed it there is ill health mentally or otherwise.
