Tradition!

Well, for the most part. If you don’t count starting the season on a Friday.

Otherwise, if you’re keen on the current Dodgers-Giants series, next season should be to your liking.

The Dodgers are scheduled to open their 2011 season at home on April Fools Day in an afternoon game against the Giants. The four-game series will mark the first time they’ve opened the season at home in three years.

The Dodgers are also scheduled to host the Giants in the final home series of the year, Sept. 20-22.

Major League Baseball released its preliminary schedule Tuesday. The season is starting slightly earlier in an effort to complete the postseason in October.

There’s even a chance the Dodgers could see Manny Ramirez again, should he re-sign as a designated hitter with the White Sox.

In interleague play the Dodgers are at the White Sox May 20-22, host the Tigers June 20-22 and are at the Twins June 28-30. The Dodgers will continue to play a pair of series against the Angels, at home June 24-26 and at Anaheim July 1-3.

The Dodgers will have home games on Jackie Robinson Day, Memorial Day, Father’s Day and the Fourth of July.

The Dodgers complete their season with three games at San Diego and then three final games Sept. 26-28 at Arizona.
