Manny Ramirez returns to Dodgers' lineup

Just like he said before -- or was that three or four times before? --- he’s baaack!

Manny Ramirez is in the Dodgers lineup for tonight’s game against the Reds.

To make room on the roster, the Dodgers designated infielder Juan Castro for assignment.

Aside from three at-bats in on July 15, Manny hasn’t played since June 29th. He’s been on the disabled list three times for right leg injuries, the latest a calf strain.

Manny has lost some of his power, but is still hitting .317 with eight homers and 39 RBI in 186 at-bats. He has, however, missed half the season.

With the Dodgers' offense struggling, they were eager for Ramirez to return to the lineup. He is batting third.

Manny will probably get a standing ovation when they wheel him on to the field.

Manny's lost SOME of his power? Manny hasn't been a force in the lineup since 2008. Let's be serious here. He couldn't hit A Ball pitching. If he hits a half dozen homers the rest of the season I'll be surprised. I'll admit I wanted him signed. I'm as disenchanted as the next person. I love skyharbor's ironic take. Yes, they will cheer him. Even the dogs at the ball park tonight will relate. What a howl! Manny's back. Whoopee!

Whoopee is right. We scored 8 runs. What a joy it has been watching the Dodgers without Manny. The MANNY EFFECT!
