Dodgers and Albuquerque to keep playing ball through 2012

The Dodgers and Albuquerque have decided to continue their reunion.

Maybe love is lovelier the second time around.

The Dodgers and the Dukes -- check that -- the Isotopes have extended their triple-A partnership through the 2012 season, the teams announced Monday.

The Dodgers originally called Albuquerque home to the triple-A Dukes from 1972 to 2000. The Dodgers moved their triple-A club to Las Vegas the following season but returned to Albuquerque last year as the Isotopes.

Last season Tim Wallach guided the Dukes into the playoffs and was voted the Pacific Coast League manager of the year. This year the Isotopes are currently five games out.

"We are excited about extending our partnership with the Albuquerque Isotopes," De Jon Watson, Dodgers assistant general manager, said in a statement. "The partnership has been outstanding, the fan base has been great and we’re really excited to be reacquainted with our great fans in Albuquerque."

Tommy Lasorda managed the Dukes to the PCL title in their first year in Albuquerque in 1972. He joined the Dodgers as a third-base coach the following season.

Hey, Tommy, get me outta here!

ManSham UPDATE!

It is being reported on KCAL9/KCBS2, this night, that ManSham will indeed be placed on Waivers, perhaps later this week.

Finally !

"Tommy Lasorda managed the Dukes to the PCL title in their first year in Albuquerque in 1972. He joined the Dodgers as a third-base coach the following season."

who cares? thats ancient history now ......... like everything pre `88 is

sort of like the apocryphal Jackie Robinson steal of home* in Game one of the `55 world series ...

funny that no one ever tells the rest of the story - - - - - - the Dodgers lost that game!

Off topic but I got to say this but...
The Padres are either
1.) cheating
2.) discovered the formula for winning with pitching.

Give me a break. I am from Chicago, and I very familiar with Jon Garland. He is not that good. If the CWS and LAD knew he was that good, they wouldnt have let him go. Then when their starters struggle, they call on their bullpen and it's the exact same pitcher. Only not struggling. They will win the west hands down with that kind of pitching from washed out and unknown pitchers turned unhittable. Crazy year. I hope the best team win it all. I hope it's not the maxi Pads.

One of the best moves the Dodgers could make if Torre doesn't return is dump Mattingly and get Wallach up here. They still have a lot of issues to deal with in terms of personnel, but I think Wallach would do a better job. Mattingly can follow Torre to wherever his next job is and help their offense fail.

How can we keep losing pitchers to other teams and expect to win (Lowe, Garland, Saito, Wolf, EJackson)?
What a wasted season!
