Chad Billingsley said he “kind of tweaked” his right calf covering first base in the second inning of the Dodgers’ 8-5 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday, but that it didn’t affect his pitching and shouldn’t force him to miss his next start.

“I survived,” said Billingsley, who gave up three runs and seven hits over 5 2/3 innings.

Billingsley said he felt discomfort when making sudden movements, which is why he didn’t run hard to first base when it looked as if he had an infield hit in the fourth inning.

“I didn’t want to walk and have to run the bases, so I was swinging,” Billingsley said. “It turned out worse for me because it was a ball I had to leg out.”
