It’s bigger than Lindsay! It’s more humongous than LeBron! It’s Manny Ramirez speaks!

It’s true, Manny Ramirez gave his first interview Wednesday since the third day of spring training.

A sit-down interview. With a camera rolling. An attractive blond asking the questions. And, oddly, since it was for KCBS2/KCAL9, in Spanish.

It was brief, and as it turns out, for a good cause.

The television station set up the interview through his agent, Scott Boras, to discuss the donation of his 1994 Porsche 911 that’s being auctioned for charity.

Manny sat down with reporter Jaime Maggio, alongside team interpreter Kenji Nimura. The odd part being, Manny speaks very good English. Of course, he could just be out of practice.

The interview took place on the field. Even with the questions and answers being interpreted, the entire interview couldn’t have lasted much over two minutes.

Afterward, Manny quickly scooped up his glove and joined his teammates warming up on the field. And went back to his media silence.
The red 911 Turbo coupe, valued at $58,000, is being auctioned through July 12. Proceeds go to the Dodgers’ charity ThinkCure! and to Maryvale, a residential center in Rosemead that helps displaced young girls.

No one knows why Manny stopped talking to the media last February.
