Clayton Kershaw, Joe Torre and Bob Schaefer draw suspensions
Clayton Kershaw received a five-game suspension for intentionally throwing at Aaron Rowand of the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday night, the commissioner's office announced.
Manager Joe Torre and bench coach Bob Schaefer were also disciplined, as each drew a one-game suspension for their actions in that same game.
Kershaw has elected to file an appeal, meaning his suspension will be suspended until the process is complete.
Torre, who was punished because Kershaw threw at Rowand after both benches were warned, will serve his suspension Wednesday night when the Dodgers conclude their three-game series against the Giants.
Schaefer, who was thrown out of Tuesday's game for arguing that Danny Bautista should have been ejected for throwing at Russell Martin's head, is expected to serve his suspension on Thursday when the Dodgers open a four-game series against the New York Mets.

Shouldn't Lincecum be suspended as well, for impersonating a girl?

And of course MLB is silent on the fact that their umpires improperly applied the "second visit" rule.
What the Dodgers should learn from this episode is that retaliation needs to be more planned out and served like revenge..."cold". The Giants waited until there was a game that I'm sure they thought was lost to get revenge on a play that happened in April. The Dodgers should have waited until either today's game or next week when they were back in SF to send the same message and it should have been to Possey or Panda.

I think the only one impersonating a girl was Manny when he used pregnancy hormones.

Lincecum was wild. If Schaeffer kept silent he would stay in game and the warning would have been after Kershaw beaned someone. probably no suspensions then and the Dodgers might have won. The umpires applied the rule correctly as Mattingly left the circle for the grass and then returned to the mound from Rule 8.06 d:
A manager or coach is considered to have concluded his visit to the mound when he leaves the 18-foot circle surrounding the pitcher’s rubber.

Great, so Kershaw, Torre and Schaefer all proved their manhood by hitting a guy that runs into fences face first, putting the #8 hitter on for free in a 1 run game and putting even more stress on an already overworked bullpen and screwing up what was a must-win game for the Dodgers? They must have been proud to walk around with their chests all puffed out when they handed a home series over the Giants and threw gasoline on an already sorry streak. The Giants sure didn't look intimidated in the clubhouse after the game.

How is that?
Oral H. knew the rule. Stated so on ESPN.
I'll take a 2 time Cy young winner and the bad hair anyday.

It's amazing how little people understand the difference between "pride" and "honor". One is a deadly sin, I'll leave it to readers to look up which.
Anyone who supports intentionally hitting somebody with a pitch is a violent maniac who desperately needs to understand there are more important things in life than baseball.
Is this rivalry really so vicious that every wild inside pitch (which happens often in the majors) is inevitably going to be interpreted as an intentional beaning? I expect such rabid behavior of the fans, but not of the players, who are paid extremely well to act like professionals.
Props to Aaron Rowand for walking to first without even looking at Kershaw. Apparently the Dodgers were more interested in pride than in winning the game.

the umps and the commish are such retards
lincecums hitting kemp was a retaliation pitch from back when padilla hit rowland. i guess they werent satisfied with almost hitting padilla early in SF. then when they saw kemp was able to take the pitch in the back like a real man, they went after martin. at what point does anyone from SF get suspended?
and all kershaw did was throw at a guy's well padded butt? crazy

What is not mentioned, again, is that this was all in retaliation for the actions of the Dodger headhunter, Vincent Padilla. And somehow, given that Padilla's beanball put Rowand on the DL, I don't think that the Giants are finished with payback.

The Giants will implode come Sept...Huff can't keep it up....pitchers will start to give Posey the uncle charlie, the Panda can't run to first, hopefull Bochy will keep playing "rent-a-error"...and homers Kuiper and Krukow will have nothing to say "whoa dude" to...they'll be silent...which will be enough of a victory for me.
