Charlie Haeger lives! Dodgers outright knuckleballer to triple-A Albuquerque

The Dodgers have outrighted Charlie Haeger to triple-A Albuquerque.

Control that enthusiasm, this is a good thing. This is a what-do-they-have-to-lose thing.

Despite repeated attempts, Haeger never could get it together this season. Those who have not been paying attention can check in on his 0-4 record and 8.40 ERA.

At Albuquerque, currently stocked with the what-do-they-have-to-lose types, he can get a chance to pitch regularly and see if he can finally get his command together.

If he doesn’t, nothing much really lost. It’s not like he’s going to be taking the spot of some hot prospect. If he does get it together, then there may yet come a time when he can prove useful.

The Dodgers have a solidified rotation for the first time all season. Which is not to say that by next week all five will still be sporting luminous health. Same with the bullpen, which is suddenly shaky on the supportive side.

Haeger was used mostly out of desperation this season. For now in the rotation, that has passed -- which certainly isn’t to say they couldn’t greatly benefit from adding an ace.

But if the likes of Haeger are seen again at Dodger Stadium this year, hopefully it will be because he’s earned a return and can help. Not just because they have to put somebody out there.

I'm going to keep posting this on all the Dodgers blogs and stories. Can someone tell me why Garrett Anderson is still on this team? Please put him out of his misery Joe? Ned? McCheap? Someone do it please. Every time I see him in the lineup or pinch hitting, I get this feeling in my stomach. Yesterday 0 for 5 with 4 strikeouts. Enough said!

" Can someone tell me why Garrett Anderson is still on this team? "

Why? because Joe Torre respects and truly likes him ... as a player and a person. Call it cronyism, paternalism or a plutocracy ,,, suffice it to say that the guy at the top what's him here.

the REAL question should be, why is Torre still here?

I can't understand why, either. The worthless slug only has the best winning percentage of ALL Los Angeles Dodgers' managers, and has taken the team to the postseason in both seasons that he has been here.

Obviously, he should have been dumped a year and a half ago, if not before.
