Nothing like having a major league fastball coming your way -- and having the lights go out.

That’s what happened to Blake DeWitt of the Dodgers, just a few minutes ago at Wrigley Field. As he stood in the batter’s box, the pitch from Tom Gorzelanny on its way, the stadium lights flickered and then went out.

The Cubs stood around for a few moments, then both teams left the field. The umpires huddled with Cubs officials amid a dark twilight, with fans taking pictures with cell-phone cameras and the power still working on the advertising panels and in the press box.

The Dodgers lead, 5-2, in the fourth inning. No word on how long the outage is expected to last, or whether Gorzelanny or Dodgers starter Chad Billingsley will be able to return.
