As if the Dodgers losing to the Philadelphia Phillies in the National League championship series is not enough, there is this: In the July 13 All-Star Game in Anaheim -- just down the freeway from Dodger Stadium -- the Phillies could have five starters and the Dodgers none.

That would be the case if the final fan vote reflects the initial results, announced Tuesday by Major League Baseball. Chase Utley leads at second base, Jimmy Rollins at shortstop and Placido Polanco at third base, with Jayson Werth and Shane Victorino second and third in the outfield voting, respectively.

Albert Pujols of the St. Louis Cardinals leads at first base, with teammate Yadier Molina leading at catcher. The top outfielder is Ryan Braun of the Milwaukee Brewers.

Andre Ethier ranks fourth among NL outfielders, with Matt Kemp seventh. James Loney ranks fourth among first basemen, Rafael Furcal fourth among shortstops and Russell Martin fifth among catchers.

The Angels have no leaders in the American League voting, so it is possible that Braun (Granada Hills) and/or Utley (Long Beach) could be the closest thing to a hometown starter.
