Dodgers sign Reed Johnson to a one-year deal

February 1, 2010 |  6:17 pm

Fabforum Outfielder Reed Johnson has signed a one-year contract with the Dodgers, according to a baseball source who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the deal hasn’t been officially announced.

Capable of playing all three outfield positions, Johnson was signed to replace Juan Pierre as the Dodgers’ fourth outfielder.

Johnson, 33, is a .282 hitter over seven major league seasons, the last two with the Chicago Cubs. He batted .255 with four home runs and 22 runs batted in last year in a season in which he sat out nearly two months because of a broken foot.
