Sen. Jack Reed (D-R.I.), a West Point graduate, was fresh from a meeting at the Pentagon this morning when he was asked about the decision President Obama faces about troop deployments in Afghanistan.
“He has to do this in the context of both Pakistan and Afghanistan,’’ Reed said. "I think he is quite right to put this in a much broader context.’’
Asked about the likelihood of getting a healthcare bill out of Congress, Reed said this: “I think we’re close to passage.’’

The Health Care Bill even from Republicans is wrong on many counts, not just the abortion issue. We will not be deceived to think if they take the abortion issue out that it is a good bill. We need to back out of our trust on medical treatments. Herbs and prayer heal even now. There are alternative treatments that do not require hospital treatment and high cost. We do not need legislation to use them. We can do that ourselves. It is a faith issue.
Regardless of the discussions over the Stupak measure, if voter fraud is used at voting time as it was against Hoffman there will be other issues to work through.
