Photo of the day: Don't forget your Weekend Eats, by Nikki Gardner of Art & Lemons

Art_and_lemons Every Monday morning, we hear from someone who says, "Dang it! I forgot to take a photo of my Weekend Eats."

Consider this your reminder.

Join us bright and early Monday morning when we chat about -- what else? -- what we ate over the weekend. Bonus points if you remember to take a photo, and you upload it here:

Today's photo of the day comes from Nikki Gardner, who writes the food-and-photography blog Art & Lemons: It's a savory potato, greens and mushroom cake served at dinner along with a green salad and braised chickpeas. Thanks for sharing the photo, Nikki!

Photo of the day: Dulce de leche ice cream from Ravenous Couple

Dulce_de_leche
Sure, you can go buy yourself some dulce de leche ice cream. But if you read this blog post by Kim Dao and Hong Pham of Los Feliz -- you know them as Ravenous Couple -- I'm pretty sure you're going to want to whip this up at home.

The Ravenous Couple shared their photo at a new photo gallery we've rolled out: Sugar Rush. If you've got something sweet to share, we want to see it there so we can showcase it on the blog and occasionally in print. It can be a recipe you've made, a dessert you ordered up, or just an achingly sweet confection you've come across in your travels.

Kim, Hong -- thanks for helping us kick off the new photo gallery, and thanks for allowing us to use the photo on page E3 of this week's Food section.

Photo of the day: Savory goat cheese tart from food writer Gaby Dalkin of What's Gaby Cooking

Tart
How about this savory showstopper? It comes to us courtesy of personal chef and L.A. food writer Gaby Dalkin. She's the voice behind the food blog, What's Gaby Cooking. (She's also known for her killer guacamoles. Seriously, how many people have an entire guacamole section on their blog?)

Dalkin took the L.A. Times' Test Kitchen recipes for quick puff pastry and this fresh berry tart and put her personal spin on it: She made it savory, adding tomatoes, scallions and goat cheese. We loved this photo so much we used it on E2 of Thursday's L.A. Times Food section. Thanks for allowing us to use your photo, Gaby!

If you try one of the recipes from the L.A. Times Test Kitchen, we'd like to know about it so that we can showcase it on the Daily Dish blog, and occassionally in print. You can upload your photos here. And you can find our online collecton of Test Kitchen recipes here. (Keep tabs on that link -- we're always adding new recipes.)

Photo of the day: Caprese on a stick by Beth Lee of OMG! Yummy

Caprese
We love food. We love food photos. And we love it when you share your food photos with us so we can showcase them each day on the Daily Dish blog, and occasionally in print

Food writer Beth Lee of OMG! Yummy captured this creative spin on an old favorite: Caprese on a stick. We liked this photo so much -- Beth describes it as spring on a plate, and we have to agree -- that we reverse published it in this week's Food section too. Thanks for allowing us to use your photo, Beth!

There are currently two ways you can share your food photos with us:

Our recipes, your kitchen: If you make any of our recipes from the L.A. Times Test Kitchen, please take a shot of the final dish and upload it here.

Weekend eats: We turn our focus to this photo gallery on Monday mornings, when we chat on Twitter and Facebook about what we ate over the weekend. We also swap photos if we've got 'em -- whether it's something you ate in a restaurant or made in your own kitchen. You can upload those photos here at any time.

What other photo galleries would you like to see on the site? I think a gallery dedicated to drinks would be fun. What do you think?

That reminds me. It's almost happy hour! Have a great weekend, everyone.

Photo of the day: Beef-and-cheddar quesadillas by Michael Hawkins of Food Funk

Quesadilla
We like food. We like photos. We like food photos. And we love it when you share your food photos with us so we can showcase them each day on the Daily Dish blog, and occasionally in print.

Today's photo is by food writer Michael Hawkins of Food Funk. (He's also on Twitter @Hawkalicious.) We'll let him describe it: "With time to kill on Saturday, I made a batch of homemade tortillas, which naturally means you have to prepare something to stuff in them. Beef, cheddar, chipotle salsa and lettuce did the trick." We liked the photo so much -- it just begs you to dive on in, doesn't it? -- that we reverse published it on Page 3 of this week's Food section. Thanks for allowing us to use your photo, Michael!

There are currently two ways you can share your food photos with us:

-- Our recipes, your kitchen: If you make any of our recipes from the L.A. Times Test Kitchen, please take a shot of the final dish and upload it here.

-- Weekend eats: We turn our focus to this photo gallery on Monday mornings, when we waste company time by chatting on Twitter and Facebook about what we ate over the weekend, and swapping photos -- whether it's something you ate in a restaurant or made in your own kitchen. You can upload those photos here.

Notice that I said there are currently two ways to share your Food photos -- that's because we'll roll out a few more galleries in the future, so stay tuned. (And if you have any suggestions for photo gallery subjects, I'd love to hear it. Please e-mail me at rene.lynch@latimes.com.)
