Father’s Day 2012 dining guide: Freebies, cocktails and more

Still don’t know where to take dad for Father’s Day? Not to fret, we’ve got you covered. Here’s a list of where to take Dad for a great meal, cocktail, even a free burger.

Fig & Olive Melrose Place is offering a new summer three-course weekend brunch menu ($28) created by executive chef Pascal Lorange, who happens to be a new first-time dad. The meal comes with a complimentary cocktail as well as a selection of half-priced cocktails. The Father’s Day weekend prix-fixe dishes include: house-made brioche French toast, Fig & Olive burger, steak tartare and more.

Chaya will have a prix-fixe ($38) Father’s Day brunch available on Sunday at the restaurant’s Venice location and an à la carte brunch at the Beverly Hills and downtown locations. At the Venice location you can treat dad to bottomless Champagne or draft beer from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Red O will serve Father’s Day dinner starting at 6 p.m. and give all dads a margarita made with Patron Gran Platinum tequila, Prunier Cognac, lime juice and agave nectar, on the rocks with a house-made fruit ice cube. Chef Rick Bayless’ lamb mole negro will be offered as a special.

Mr. C is offering a buffet brunch and bottomless bellinis poolside at the Mr. C Yacht Club. Munch on Venetian frittatas or visit the Cipriani pasta station while listening to live jazz from the Jimmy Gimelli Jazztet. The buffet brunch and bottomless bellinis is $65 per adult and $35 for brunch and bottomless soft drinks for kids. Reservations are recquired.

The Counter is offering a free burger for all dads on Sunday. All you have to do is say ‘My dad is a BFD (big freakin deal) and your dad will receive one standard 1/3-pound burger with included toppings. One per customer accompanied by a paying guest.This promotion is valid at all locations except Miami airport.

Drago Centro is offering a six-course Father’s Day tasting menu ($60) and beer pairing ($30) on Saturday and Sunday. The menu will include truffle agnolotti, crispy pork belly and gnocchi, lamb osso bucco and more.

Magnolia Bakery will have special cupcakes available for dad. Get him the Tool Kit ($24), which includes one dozen mini vanilla and chocolate cupcakes adorned with edible tools, or Dad’s Toolbox ($10), which includes one chocolate fudge brownie and one chocolate chunk blondie, or you can purchase individual classic vanilla and chocolate cupcakes with your choice of edible sports, golf, tie or tool decorations ($3.25 each).

Blu Jam Café is offering complimentary beer or champagne for dads all day on Sunday.

Bouchon will serve Father’s Day specials all day Sunday, starting with a bistro brunch from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with complimentary beer and beignets for dad. For dinner at 5 p.m. the restaurant is offering a 26-day aged prime rib, roasted potatoes, creamed spinach, corn, Yorkshire pudding and beef jus. At Bar Bouchon, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., dad can grab a steak panini, fried oysters or escargots as well as an American beer flight ($8).

Mezze is featuring items on their menu that will inspire dad to ‘eat like a man’ with some classic favorites such as the double-cut pork chop schnitzel, braised beef brisket or the 32-ounce dry-aged rib-eye steak. The restaurant’s usual Sunday deli classics will also be available.

Cecconi’s is offering a prime rib special on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The special will include a cut carved table-side with mushroom sauce and roast potatoes ($32). The restaurant’s traditional brunch menu will also be available, which includes items such as the duck egg and black truffle and the steak and eggs.

Street will have global grilling favorites in a meat platter and veggie platter served family style ($35 per person) as well as a global beer flight ($12).The grilling meat platter will include Malaysian sticky ribs, spicy chicken wings, wood oven-roasted bratwurst and more.

Pink Taco will serve half off well cocktails, beer and sangria from 3 to 7 p.m. on Sunday as well as a special Father’s Day dish of baby back ribs marinated in watermelon barbecue sauce. The drink specials and ribs are available at both Los Angeles locations of the restaurant.

Scarpetta will serve an Italian brunch on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. featuring a carving station with lamb loin, prime rib, prochetta and ribs as well as eggs benedict, prosciutto topped with truffle fonduta and more ($88 for adults, $35 for children). There will also be bottomless bloody marys, bellinis and mimosas for $17.

Ra Pour restaurant and lounge in Rancho Cucamonga will have a special lobster menu Friday to Sunday from 5 p.m. to close and a Father’s Day steak menu Sunday from 5 p.m. to close. The lobster menu will feature lobster roll sliders, lobster corn chowder and a slew of other lobster dishes. The steak menu will be your selection of meat (12-ounce rib-eye, 14-ounce veal chop, 10-ounce New York or 8-ounce filet mignon) accompanied by mashed potatoes, red wine jus and asparagus ($35).

Fuku Burger is celebrating dads with 2 for 1 drinks from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday. You can also Sumo Size any burger on the menu to share with your dad.

Rock & Reilly’s Irish pub is offering their Guiness Brat and Guiness special for $7 all day Sunday.
