ABC orders TV pilot inspired by Susan Feniger, Mary Sue Milliken

Power chefs Susan Feniger and Mary Sue Milliken have one of the most unusual -- and enduring -- friendships/partnerships going. And now, it's going back to TV.

ABC has given the greenlight to a comedy pilot inspired by Feniger and Milliken. Set in the 1980s -- expect some asymmetrical hairdos -- it follows two female chefs struggling to make their way in an industry dominated by men.

While the project is still in the works, Milliken says it could also veer into the most beguiling territory surrounding the Too Hot Tamales: how Susan Feniger's ex-husband became Milliken's current husband, and Feniger's decision to live life openly as a lesbian. "It's all part of our story," she said. "It's crazy to think this is happening."

Now, everyone knows that pilots are a dime a dozen in Hollywood, and it doesn't guarantee a spot on prime-time TV. But we have a suspicion that this one will have an easier time standing out from the rest: It was pitched to the network by former Disney head Michael Eisner.

Eisner profiled Feniger and Milliken in his book "Working Together: Why Great Partnerships Succeed," and he says the chapter on the two is one that especially captivated readers.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Jeff Greenstein ("Desperate Housewives") will write and produce  the project along with Eisner.

Said Feniger: "It’s been one wild ride for the last 30 years, that’s for sure! If your life is going to be a sitcom, who better to produce it than Michael Eisner? The only question I have is 'Who’s gonna play me?' "
