Los Angeles Food and Wine: The first Los Angeles Food and Wine Festival starts Thursday, with a red carpet premiere at the Nokia Plaza, and runs until Sunday. Events include lunches at MB Post, Cecconi’s with chef Giada De Laurentiis, Lukshon with Sang Yoon and Chris Cosentino and Cut with Paul Bartolotta; a barbecue at the Santa Monica Pier with Guy Fieri; a cheese tasting with Laura Werlin; and more. Cube Cafe book signing: On Friday, Cube Café will host a book signing for ‘Party Like a Culinista: Fresh Recipes, Bold Flavors, and Good Friends’ by Jill Donenfeld and Josie Gordon. The authors will sign advance copies of the book. The café will be providing complimentary Italian wine tastings and artisanal cheeses for guests. 20 Tastes in 20 Days: In honor of Oktoberfest, SmithHouse Tap and Grill is offering patrons a chance to become members of the SmithHouse Mug Club. Beginning today, guests will recieve a punch card that will keep track of beers ordered throughout the month. Once they have reached 20 beers, they will be initiated into the club and recieve a personal stein glass to be stored and re-used on their return to the restaurant. The bar will also be serving a special beer flight from Stone Brewing Co. The flights consist of five pours for $15 including Stone 15th Anniversary Escondidian Imperial Black IPA, Stone Cali-Belgique IPA, Arrogant Bastard Ale, Stone Ruination IPA and Stone Sublimely Self-Righteous Ale.
