3 Events: El Bulli the movie, Cube Marketplace sale, San Gennaro Feast
Ferran on film: The documentary "El Bulli: Cooking in Progress" will open at the Laemmle Sunset 5 theaters on Friday, Sept. 30. Directed by Gereon Wetzel, the film takes an in-depth look at the famed Catalan restaurant and the temple of molecular gastronomy’s chef-innovator, Ferran Adria. In some ways it's a memorial, after El Bulli closed this summer. Wetzel examines the research process for Adria’s experimental dishes, with "some unintentionally very funny moments, like when two chefs go to the local market and ask for five single grapes for their testing -– and three beans," says the Associated Press. Spanish with English subtitles.
