Food Events: The Taste, Korean tapas, beer garden, Simply diVine
Korean Tapas at LaOn: Chefs Jenee Kim and Farid Zadi have developed a tapas menu that highlights traditional and modern Korean dishes at LaOn restaurant this weekend. Dishes are $7 to $15, including specialties such as beef carpaccio with onions, sesame leaf, radish sprout and crab and kimchi brik served with onion and orange salad. Summer tasting: The L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center hosts "Simply diVine: A Summer Soiree for the Senses" on Saturday night in Beverly Hills. Held along the cobblestoned lane at Two Rodeo, this annual event will also ring in the center's 40th anniversary with bites from Jar, the Gorbals, AOC, Border Grill, Street, Lucques, Tavern and Fabiolus Cafe. A VIP wine tasting is also scheduled. General admission is $150. www.simplydivinela.org.
Red Sun Saturdays: On Saturday, Sushi Roku and One Colorado will be hosting their last pop-up beer garden, where diners can enjoy music, sushi and Japanese beer outdoors. Katie Costello will be performing at 8 p.m., but guests can arrive as early as 5:30.
